Rival Republican lawmakers Glenn Hegar and Harvey Hilderbran are dominating the money chase in the race to succeed Susan Combs as Texas comptroller.
Hegar, though, entered the year with nearly double the amount of ready cash enjoyed by Hilderbran — $2.57 million, compared with Hilderbran’s $1.34 million.
Comptroller hopeful Debra Medina had just $52,000 in cash, after raising about $80,000 in the past six months, according to a Medina spokesman.
