Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) beat even among tea partiers.

Texas's Ellis County Tea Party posted (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=464616893660645&set=pb.234399610015709.-2207520000.1389636537.&type=3&theater) the results of a new straw poll on Sunday which found Cornyn leading Stockman, 18.3 percent to 0.0 percent.

The whole premise of the Stockman candidacy is that he's more conservative than Cornyn and that the incumbent Texas senator -- even going so far as to call Cornyn a "liberal." So far, though, Stockman has struggled to gain much of any ground in the Republican primary against Cornyn. A private Republican poll of the GOP primary found (http://www.politico.com/story/2013/12/john-cornyn-steve-stockman-poll-101149.html) Cornyn leading Stockman by a very comfortable 44 percentage points.

Stockman was absolutely stupid for giving up a safe house seat to run in a race that he can't win. He's one of the better members of the house, and now he's going to be gone next year. Stockman and Paul Broun will both likely be gone. I wish both of them had just stayed in the house.

I don't think this poll is very relevant.

I do. If you're running a long-shot candidacy and can't win a straw poll among what should be the most-friendly crowd you can come up with, it's bad. Straw polls are about the least representative thing imaginable (remember Ron Paul winning a ton of them in 2007 while polling 2% nationally?), and fringe-chance candidates should thrive with them.

Not to mention, there is a poll showing Stockman trailing Cornyn by forty-four percentage points. That is relevant.

The article is based on the Ellis County Tea Party poll. Hardly representative.

Sen. John Cornyn has tons of connection, money, and power. It will take a miracle to primary him.

I think the "Shady Stockman" ads were devastating, Cornyn seems to have bought a ton of them since I'm seeing them everywhere..

Steve Stockman pulling a Gary Johnson?

I see them everywhere too. I'll be scared to see how much Cornyn has spent on those.

Dwayne Stovall and Steve Stockman have very limited funds, which is depressing. Dwayne Stovall is popular with the grassroots, but doesn't have the name recognition to pull a win. Steve Stockman is the biggest challenge to Cornyn, but Cornyn is dominating him with attack ads.

Johnson would have won if he had run for US Senate as a Republican in 2012. He was just too stoned to realize. :(

While Cornyn's allies were plastering this all over Texas, Stockman's campaign was photoshopping Cornyn's head onto Pajama Boy, and tweeting it. You tell me which strategy will probably be more effective.

Cornyn didn't have to spend a penny for those ads:

OK, that article is just propaganda. It completely covers up the real story from that Straw Poll. Why didn't they mention the first or second place candidates? Because they want to make it look like Cornyn won! Bullsh*t!

It is not a 2 way race. Cornyn should be forced into a runoff even if Cornyn's eventual victory looks certain.

46% are voting for Stovall or Vega.

"Texas's Ellis County Tea Party posted (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=464616893660645&set=pb.234399610015709.-2207520000.1389636537.&type=3&theater) the results of a new straw poll on Sunday which found Cornyn leading Stockman, 18.3 percent to 0.0 percent."

The other poll is a month or so old. There are probably primary voters who think Louie Gohmert is running for Senate. I dont see how a RINO can take Stockman's seat and hold it until 2022. The next congressman is going to have to vote like Stockman. No amount of money is going to take the publicity away from Stockman's seat. I think Stockman's run helps shine light on Texas Congressional RINO's talking big and voting small. Stockman wasn't going to be speaker or control the agenda for the majority of house Republicans. It is more how important it was for Stockman personally to be in Congress in 2015 and 2016. It also exposes the NRA ignoring the RINO's and Democrats doing everything to create more Democrat voters.

One recent poll has Cornyn 50%, Stockman 6%, All others 5%, Undecided 39%.

They didn't break down "All Others".

Linda Vega? I think she's merely a paper candidate with a free campaign website.

Stockman really should have kept his House seat.

Who cares about Cornyn with such a more interesting target (Graham) out there?
