I haven't been coming to Myspace much lately. Very few people post blog entries anymore (though Ted and Seth make it worth the wait), and almost every bulletin is completely obnoxious or stale. Regardless, I redid my profile somewhat and decided to write in this thing. I've actually got something I'd like to talk about: politics.

Namely, I'm referring to the upcoming presidential elections. I must admit, most of the candidates are atrocious. It's not surprising, though, since the mainstream media picks our candidates, and the majority of the United States sits there with their thumbs up their asses. Yes, that's right--let's pigeonhole ourselves into a choice between Republican or Democrat. Fascist or Socialist--take your pick!

The Democratic side wants to "stop thinking of the individual and start thinking of what's best for society," or so says Hillary Clinton. While I can agree with a few policies of each cadidate, I still find that overall outlook deeply disturbing. What about our individual liberties and right to pursue happiness? On the Republican side, we've got three guys that reject evolution (what the fuck?). Guliani repeatedly (and pathetically) uses 9/11 to turn the attention to himself, and I'm simply too much at odds with Romney. I just don't consider any of them worth voting for, save one: Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian. Socially, I'm fairly liberal. On the other hand, I'm economically moderate, so I'd most likely fall under the label "Classical Democrat." Paul is the only candidate that actually fully adheres to the Constitution of this country. His leadership qualities took me completely by surprise. He opposed the Iraq war from the start, supports lower taxes, wants to secure our borders, and will abolish the myriad useless depts. that have sprung up over the years. While he is pro-life, which I disagree with, he has intentions to leave that choice up to individual states, and that's the way to go.

I've never really been one to "rally" behind a person, but in this case, I feel like it's needed. It comes as no surprise that the mainstream media doesn't like Ron Paul. He actually speaks the truth, and they've done their best to take potshots at him. Considereing the state of this nation, I understand that any candidate, especially a Democrat, is looking very attractive compared to Bush. I also realize nobody will likely see this, and anybody who does probably won't care, but seriously consider voting Ron Paul '08.
