Talk about public shaming, Internet-style…

Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown has fired or disciplined 27 officers and employees in the last year. And every time he brings down the hammer, he announces it on Facebook and Twitter, specifying exactly who the men and women are and what they did. On Dec. 30, it was five officers and a 911 call operator.

Here’s Chief Brown, naming names:

@DPDChief

I have terminated SC Amy Wilburn today for firing her weapon upon an unarmed person without fear or justification...

Good for Chief Brown! Especially with respect to these:

I have terminated SC Frank Della for public intoxication, damaging a person's property, and making offensive contact with a person.

I have terminated SC Amy Wilburn today for firing her weapon upon an unarmed person without fear or justification.

I'm surprisingly ok with this.

Do you think he is different because he is terminating these people, or only because he is posting it online? I am wondering if these types of events are as common as shown here, but because they aren't posted online we never know about them. What do you think?

I am sure this stuff is very common. Just in my small town we had a cop who kept his job after being caught selling items he took from the evidence locker and buying a $150,000 house with the profits. Another cop kept his job and retired with honors after bragging at a Town Hall meeting that he would not retire until he had the chance to shoot someone. Yet another officer kept his job and is getting a pension after he responded to dispatch that he could not respond to the bank robbery in progress because he was on his lunch break... The bank in question was across the street from his location.... This shit happens in every town across America.

I wonder what city these fine officers will end up in.

There's not too many times I would accuse an employee of the state of efficiency or doing a decent job of things, but this guy stands accused. I may disagree with the whole of what he is doing, but certainly not the totality of it.

Good for him.

Meanwhile, Senior Corporals Amy Wilburn and Julia Menchaca said that they there seven miles away when they volunteered for the call. They pulled into a 7-Eleven. Wilburn wrote, “I ran inside and grabbed two waters.” Her partner communicated with a dispatcher. The officers arrived at the home more than half an hour after the initial call. They say they knocked, but heard nothing. They say the blinds were drawn, the garage locked and the backyard occupied by a barking dog.

It's a wonder the dog wasn't killed.

Great! Now when are they going to be charged them with the crimes they committed?
