That was the idea. They will keep it flying as long as there is money to pay for it. The company the blimp is being rented from has a ceo who supports Ron Paul.

yea, this is kind of a strange way to fundraise... i haven't heard how this is going to be collected and delivered, I hope someone is working on this...

not to be gloomy, this is a great idea!

You know how people made fake pledges for Freds Giving Day?

I think there may be some Dems out there doing that to you.

I seriously doubt that the $500K in pledges will ever come to fruition.

I agree. Not everyone that pledged will donate. But if we can get this to start moving I think others will take their place and once it gets in the air I think it will pay for itself and be a major boost for the official campaign.

fake donations big time. This whole thing is becoming a laughing stock.

There should be enough money with kind of cushion.

I thought the money had to be in hand by the 30th in order to have blimpie for the 15th? Is this even feasible now?

It should be feasable. I am sure the blimp company can give a few extra days.

I'd love to see the web referrers on ronpaulblimp.com. If visitors are coming from other candidate forums their pledges are most likely not valid.

There may be false pledges, but I don't think it would be coming from the Dems. Our enemy number one are the neo-cons. If anyone is pulling crap it will be them and their supporters.

I've made a $1,000 pledge and I intend on keeping it. And, if it comes to it I'd up it to $5,000.

excluding 5k pledges total is 154,000. They should've set up a email verification script when collecting pledges.

There is an email verification (through feedburner) and it is working just fine. No need to panic. We'll know soon enough how high the blimp will fly :)

what I meant to say. maybe a login and pw email verification script plus some optional information for pledges over 1,000 like meetup group, username or name on RPF/MEETUP.

yes we will see. ;)

This idea is seriously going to die unless the organizers start stepping up. For one, two thirds of the pledges are in the $5,000 bracket. I wish I could be so optimistic to believe that's legitimate, but the reality is that most of those donations are probably fakes trying to derail this project, or at a minimum, people with good intentions who are pledging that much just to drive donations.

Where are the $5,000 verifications?

Where is a treasurer?

What's the webmaster and programmer position status (this one is more personal, I'm still awaiting a response here)?

Where is the news update about how this project will happen without a PAC?

I'm not sure whether I missed the answers to all these big questions and if so I apologize, but if they aren't answered soon, especially at this time of year and the speed this campaign moves at, this idea will die. Forget what the hell we are going to name the blimp and concentrate on getting it off the ground.
