If i was Mcain, it would have been the most terrifying thing i have ever seen.

But from my eyes, it was absolutely beautiful.

It was pretty awesome. I thought, in general, that his performance was pretty weak though. Oh well, everybody has off days.

I hope New Hampshire Independents were paying attention to this encounter! I take it that's why McCain attacked Paul out of the blue. McCain is finished, New Hampshire! Finished!!!!!!!!! He knows it and it's scared! That's why he had to resort to equating Paul's policy to bringing about another Hitler! McCain now is a shadow of himself in 2000! Ron Paul is the real Republican!

I absolutely LOVED that "you don't REALLY want to go there young man" look that Dr. Paul gives McCain!!! I just couldn't resist saving a screen shot of that look!!

Right after hearing this, I told everyone in the room that McCain has just started to endorse Ron Paul with a set up like that. No way he could honestly believe what he was saying.

I just wish they could go 1 on 1 for about an hour on the issue. I'm thinking McCain would fair alot worse if he had to back up his position with some facts.

That's exactly what I said to my fiancée last night.
It was nearly unbearable to watch.

While I'm posting on this thread, did anyone find it interesting and telling that McCain does not own any guns? I'd be willing to bet that the reason is that he is unstable (as a direct result of Post-Tramatic Stress Disorder from his time in combat and especially the many years he spent as a POW). Now, I'm not trying to make fun of him, insult him, or even diagnose him (though I don't know how it would be possible for him to not suffer from PTSD), but I imagine we don't see that other side of McCain (as a direct result of therapy and medication, I assume). That's fine; I have no qualms about keeping such medical problems private. But what makes him think he would make a good president/commander-in-chief? If he doesn't/can't own a gun, how could he be trusted with the whole damn military?!

Also, he doesn't know history. At all.
But we already knew that.

I just got back from having Thanksgiving dinner with our troops in Iraq Mr Paul and they want me to tell you that they want to win.

Mr Paul. Well I didn't go to Iraq to have Thanksgiving dinner with the troops and they want me to tell you that they're sending more money to me than to you.

Well, I am a clinical psychologist. I know that veterans and active military have gone through alot less than McCain and developed PTSD. However, everyone has their own threshold for traumatic events, and I haven't done a clinical diagnostic interview with McCain. Thus it would be unethical and irresponsible for me to even speculate on McCain's status.

Incidentally, for those that are suffering from PTSD and are not getting the help they deserve from the VA, there are a wide variety of cognitive-behavioral, non-medication based treatments that have been shown to be effective in controlled studies. A licensed psychologist, referred by your insurance provider, specializing in these treatments can do wonders to improve quality of life.

Personally (and back to the point of this thread), I think McCain made a bad move in bringing Hitler into the debate, and I'm glad that Dr. Paul reacted in the way that he did. Classic look, and an even better verbal response.

One minor correction:

Mr. Paul: Well, I didn't spend taxpayer money to go to Iraq to have Thanksgiving with the troops, but they want me to tell you that they're sending more money to me than to you.

The only issue I have is that I saw two articles about Ron getting the applause and McCain being booed after this exchange. Am I crazy? I didn't get this and I watched the exchange 3 times. Although I think Dr. Paul's answer was correct....I don't think Dr. Paul came out ahead on this...at least to the biased audience reaction. Doesn't it seem like the audience was cheering for McCain and hissing Paul and then it appeared that they continued to boo during his rebuttal.
I don't like audiences reactions at debates anyway. Booing and hissing and cheering is for a football game. It's pretty low brow for something like this at a debate. The best debates I have witnessed were given with small audiences where you could judge the answers given and not the emotion of the audience reaction.

Right-click and then Save As or Save Target As. Then just choose a folder in which to save it. If you're really not savvy, it might be best to put it on the desktop.

Can anyone think of any other gif-able moments in the debate?

lol that gif is awesome. I like how for a split second Ron Paul has a serious look on his face like he's about to consider what McCain is saying, which quickly turns to a smirk when he realizes it's BS.

McCain was the sacrificial lamb of the Republican's plotters. They needed someone to go after Paul, and he was chosen because after this summer's amnesty debacle, he has no chance. Paul's look was like "Don't do it John, you're cutting your own throat". The Republicans still don't get it, the war thing is over. More evidence comes out every day (check out the film "No End in sight") of how bad this is getting. This government is so screwed up and corrupt, I hope we have until the elections to bring it back from the brink.

btw, the look was great, but the absolute best was "Washington didn't change me"

Ron Paul kicks mountains of ass. With a look he can make the other guy look like a fool.

Pull out your card and donate!

Yeah–again!

Or pull your friend over and make him donate!

Ignorance can be corrected, stupidity is forever. I’m afraid McCain is in it for the long haul. Rudy too.

On their best day, Dr. Paul can out think these morons in his sleep. I am not in the habit of calling people names but they just keep putting their foot in their mouths.

If Moe was there he’d clunk their heads together.

I think Mccain does suffer from PTSD. I was watching the history channel and they were talking about this accident on an aircraft carrier in the gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam war. A missile malfunctioned and fired from a jet on the flight deck. It hit McCain's Fighter Jet, but he escaped. Then it set off a chain reaction and killed or dismembered most the crew on the flight deck... That on top of being a prisoner of war. Man talk about a tramatic life.

Look at Ron Paul's head snap when McCain says "Hitler". It was a "Oh hell no you just didn't" type of snap.
