View Full Version : Edward Snowden For Congress!

Edward Snowden has great name recognition, a huge advantage in a political race. His hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina is in N.C's 7th congressional district, which has been occupied by democrat Mike McIntyre since 1997.

Think Snowden could give McIntyre a run for his money without running a traditional campaign? (or even really campaigning, since he is overseas?) Would a win give Snowden a little protection from our governments persecution?

And there is this! "For the 2012 election, political donation records indicate that he contributed to the primary campaign of Republican candidate Ron Paul."

Your reasons for "No" ?You mean besides the fact that he is a fugitive who has been charged with espionage and theft of government property, and that he has claimed political asylum in Russia?

I mean, I think the man is a hero. But political office in the US???!!! Maybe after he gets pardoned.

I think the should be voted in as President of the Federal Reserve Bank. See what kind of damage he can do there to one of the most dangerous of all systems of oppression.

Does that make him ineligible to run?

If not, then it sounds like a great idea to me tio rio, and I'm not drunk, though I wish I were.

Has he actually been charged? I'm not aware of any charges filed.

This is a very interesting idea. If he wanted to do an educational campaign.

Lets face it, even with good name recognition, he's not going to do well in the MIC belt.

Has anyone seen poll numbers on him broken down by state? I'm sure some states like him a lot more.

I can see TPTB trying to keep him out of debates by saying he has to be physically there.

If he did manage to get elected, you can't vote unless you are on the chamber floor.

At the same time, I believe there are some special rules protecting acting members of Congress.

It would certainly be a hostile work environment, as other members have called for his assassination or kidnapping, show trial and summary execution. Fortunately, those members are in the small minority.

hmmm....

I'm sure he'd have no problem getting on C-SPAN, the various cable news shows and getting interviewed in the print/virtual media.

Maybe he could join Greenwald's new media outlet and get some cover as a journalist...

It''s too bad we cant run him for DNI, DIRNSA or for a FISA court judge position.

umm, yeah - and he might have just a "little" problem getting a security clearance now...

For PR, it would be fantastic and he's not exactly a repub or dem candidate, so could pull votes from both sides, and if his "hero" rating translates to votes here, he would win.

You mean he should go straight to Senate?

He will most likely win either way and could be very strong candidate to unseat McCain, Lindsey Graham, Rubio of any of the neoconish-police state champions in Congress. Only issue is they will try very hard to put him away or do anything to keep his name from getting on a ballot, that little wrinkle will need to be worked out.

Hay, no problem! we just need to find that video of McCain, Graham, Rubio, King and Feindstein taking turns snorting coke off a hookers ass while molesting senate pages in the background...

Actually just running him against any of these people would be great - they would go overboard on the 9/11 tearoarist rhetoric and turn off their constituents. They would flip and dig their own graves. Getting rid of a neocon would be totally worth running Snowden, even if there was no intention of winning.

LOL
If legal eagles can remove the hurdles in him running, I think he can win a senate seat despite total inexperience in politics. He seems to have extraordinary boldness and convictions, and if his motivations were to salvage the founding principles of America as they seem.. he will have many voices across the libertarian, liberal, conservative spectrum supporting him. It will also help that he happens to be very articulate.

Well, it would be a Hawaiian seat.

It would be interesting though.

Edward would be impossible, but his father on the other hand would be a very, very intriguing proposition! Look who his attorney is; Constitutional scholar Bruce Fein. He's already got someone within the Liberty Movement by his side.

If Ed Snowden is smart, he'll stay the fuck away from the USA.

They'd kill him inside of a week if he ever came back.

Our current stock of representation has literally been caught smoking crack and engaging in all sorts of different kiddie porn.

A very interesting proposition.

This could also get lot of traction if any movement on this.
