NBC's Kasie Hunt reports on Twitter that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid "has been hospitalized."

A statement from Reid's office confirms the report:

“Early this morning, Senator Reid was not feeling well and as a precaution decided to go to the hospital. Tests have been conducted and everything is normal. He is alert, resting and feeling better.

“Doctors have asked that he remain in the hospital for observation so he will not be working today.”

The majority caucus would have to vote. There really is no line of succession for Senate Majority Leader or President Pro-Tem. A couple Dems would throw their name into the hat, the Dem Caucus would vote privately, come up with a winner, and then the Dem Caucus would vote unanimously for that person on the floor of the Senate, and that new person becomes the new Senate Majority Leader.
