Just in case you guys don't know, these racist and insulting statements were not made by Dr. Ron Paul (of course). However, since someone he had entrusted with writing his newsletter "The Ron Paul Survival Report" decided to write them, he is being blamed for those words.

Scroll down to the section about the letter allegations:

...it's been serving as good debunking practice for us Paulbots on blog comments sections the past few days.

Sometimes having weak oppo stories flung at your candidate is a good thing. And remember, there's a reason no one's attacking Huckabee, Brownback, and Hunter -- no one feels threatened by them.

My response:

Your newspaper recently ran a very interesting article on presidential candidate Ron Paul. Dr. Paul never wrote those things he was accused of writing, but did step forward and take the blame because it was his newsletter, and thus his responsibility. Your writer's hatred for Dr. Paul was very evident in the article. I wonder if anyone in Atlanta knows that Dr. Paul has indicated that there will most likely be a black cabinet member once he is elected, if not the vice-president. I wonder if anyone in Atlanta knows that Dr. Paul is a champion for individual liberty, regardless of race, creed, sexual preference, gender, or social standing. I wonder if anyone in Atlanta realizes that Dr. Ron Paul is probably the last best hope for this nation.

I thank you for your interest in Dr. Ron Paul's candidacy. If you would like to read a true account of his views, I would refer you to ronpaulforums.com, where you will find a wealth of information on why Ron Paul is taking the nation by storm.

Thank you for your time,
Anthony Byrd

This is really old - I remember attacking it back on June 3. :) The guy responded to a few emails, actually, basically acknowledging the fact that it was a hatchet job.

How F'ing convenient.

I would not be surprised to see more and more of this as his popularity grows.
Slanderous articles and Google and Yahoo turn around and post it as top news stories.

Dear Mr. Searcy,

I just read your article on Ron Paul from June 3rd, that is posted on your website.
I’m totally appalled at your lack of knowledge on Ron Paul, and your obvious slander.
I suggest next time you do your homework before writing an article, especially about someone who is VERY popular right now on the Internet.
I expect your mailbox will be full tomorrow.

And the day after. And the day after that.

I lol'd.

Seriously though, anything calling itself progressive is not usually worth taking seriously. Progressive is double-plus-newspeak for communist.
