Off to New Orleans in an hour or so

I'm going to talk to the Southern Regional Harm Reduction Coalition about how to get Harm Reduction policies passed in a Republican legislature. I was scheduled for two spots, now only one, so it appears that I will have a bit of free time. I arrive at the airport 12:18 this afternoon, and leave 6:15 PM Friday evening.

Interesting story behind this actually. Apparently the NC Harm Reduction people found me to be the 'friendliest Republican" (imagine that) in NC GA, so they asked me how to get their policies passed in our NCGA. I told them in detail, and then promptly forgot about it as I was redistricted out and had all kinds of things going on.

Along comes 2013, and apparently they were the only group to follow my advice to the letter, and they have largely credited me with the success of their having passed Narcan Crash Kits for first responders, and making it legal to carry syringes.

So I am speaking at the regional conference in New Orleans!

I used to fly all the time. Loved it. This will be my 2nd time flying since 9/11, and my 1st time with the TSA. If it comes down to porno-scanner or grope, I'd rather not be irradiated like a microwave chicken. :-p

Sometimes they can be interesting, especially if you're driving by yourself. I do think that it's wise to concealed carry if you are doing it though.

Less impressed with Bourbon Street than I expected to be. I don't really want to get drunk or go to a strip club. This place is probably a lot nicer if you are with someone who knows the place. Went back to my hotel out of boredom. :p
