This is the Confederate Battle Flag, more properly the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia (though as the war progressed its use did spread to other CSA Armies)

This is the Second Confederate Naval Jack, used from 1863 until the end of the war. Note the lighter shade of blue, which was part of the specified design of the flag.

This flag, the one in the video, is a creation of the 20th Century, combining the color scheme of the Battle Flag with the proportions of the Naval Jack. A much more aesthetic flag, in my opinion, but not one that any one was fighting under in the 1860s.

Just an amusing tidbit I'd thought I'd toss out there. I don't care either way about the flag's modern use, though I was a bit disgusted that such an inane question got asked. It did make Rompson look the fool, though, so I guess I won't complain too much.

Bzzzt... Half correct... There were two other flags for the CSA as the war progressed.

The one you show was discarded because it was too similar to the U.S. Flag and hard to distinguish on a calm day.

That was the first flag of the CSA. It looked too much like the Union flag in battle so it created a lot of confusion and was changed. The last official flag of the CSA prior to their governments disbanding was:

And y'all history buffs know that the flag on the kid's wall is not the "Stars and Bars" as Anderson Cooper said.

Romney also called it the Stars and Bars.

Absolutely. I gave up trying to correct people on that a long time ago. *sigh*

Thanks! I fly the Bonnie Blue Flag and the Gadsen Flag instead of the Battle Flag. To me it makes much of the same point and doesn't get my neighbors riled up.
