Washington, D.C. *– U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement on the public demonstrations in Ukraine:

“The public demonstrations unfolding in Ukraine are a powerful expression of the high expectations that Ukrainians have for a future of democratic reform, economic opportunity, and integration into the Euro-Atlantic community.

“The eyes of the world are on Ukraine. Ukraine’s leaders should respect their people’s basic rights, including freedom of expression and assembly, and refrain from acts of violence against peaceful demonstrators. At the same time, it is important for those demonstrating to continue doing so peacefully.

“Ukrainians should not be forced to choose between a future in the west or the east. They should be free to chart their nation's future as they choose, in the best interest of Ukraine's citizens. As Ukrainians continue to press their government to take the necessary steps to sign an association agreement with the EU, the Ukrainian government should listen to the voices of its people and respond to their legitimate aspirations.”
Like every written statement John McCain always have a scripted in hand.

Why are they pushing these Ukrainian protests?
The fact my freind that they have a major blowback in Libya and there Saudi trained, funded Syrian Rebels have all but are about to be Crushed? the fact that your government led by both political parties have misused American taxpayers money into such activities for the past 10 years?

Has anyone seen this yet?
National Endowment for Democracy:Ukraine. (http://www.ned.org/where-we-work/eurasia/ukraine)
Over 52+ NGO organizations are working inside Ukraine what for?

To educate and inform voters prior to the October 2012 parliamentary elections. The Center will conduct a small grants competition and award 10 NGOs with grants of up to $1,500 for nonpartisan projects aimed at mobilizing voters in the Cherkasy and Kirovograd regions of central Ukraine. To prepare local NGOs for the competition, the Center will organize six training seminars on proposal writing, project development and get-out-the-vote programs. An additional training on project implementation will be organized for the recipients of the small grants.

IRI will.
To strengthen the ability of Ukrainian political parties to be more representative and to compete effectively in the October 2012 parliamentary elections, IRI will provide an extensive program of campaign training on voter targeting, issue-based message development, strategy for candidate recruitment for majoritarian constituencies, and coalition building between democratic parties, and access to public opinion research.

The National Endowment for Democracy was the same organization that was criticized for starting the protests in 2004.

The NED played a significant role in the 2004 presidential election in Ukraine. In an article in the Washington Post, NED director Nadia Diuk acknowledged that there was a controversy surrounding the involvement of the NED: "Some have sought to portray the events in Ukraine as orchestrated in the West, a model executed with the support of Western pro-democracy foundations.' Comparing this to similar recent interventions in Slovakia, Serbia and Montenegro and Georgia, she writes, "Some commentators believe that the similarity of their actions proves they are part of a U.S.-sponsored plot,

But of course the NED would always defend themselves by stating that the protests we had seen are a genuinely "home-grown" yet they will never tell the actual truth behind them.

I am kinda confused on why Ukraine want to join the EU.. since a lot of countries in the EU is broke. Why were they eager to lose their sovereignty?
