A Virginia delegate has resigned his position in the General Assembly (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?433264-Virginia-House-of-Delegates-Special-Election-%28Roanoke%29) and a special election will be announced soon. The Republican primary for the special election is just two weeks away and we have a Ron Paul meetup organizer as a candidate. Caleb Coulter was a volunteer for RP2008/2012, attended the Rally for the Republic, and was a Virginia delegate to the RNC in 2012. He has a fair amount of local support, but this nomination is challenged by the Sheriff that just lost re-election after eight years in office. We can get this nomination and have a good shot at the special election if we get some support. If any of you recall meeting Caleb at Rally for the Republic or the Convention in Tampa, please show your support by donating a few bucks to his campaign and ask your friends to do the same. Thanks!

A lifelong Roanoke native, I have dedicated years of service to my community through volunteerism and leadership with the American Red Cross, the Boy Scouts of America, churches, local schools, and various educational and political advocacy organizations.

Through years of activism, I have come across countless people who agree that we need a few ‘Mr. Smiths’ to champion principles and values that the people are desperate for. As your Delegate, I will work tirelessly to ensure those principles and values are upheld. During this campaign you will see I can bridge many gaps in our society, our culture and our divides.

Bump for day shift. There are no paid staffers on this campaign. All money will go to lit/media and pizza for volunteers.

....aaaand, it's over.

ROANOKE, Va. -

Octavia Johnson will be the Republican candidate when voters decide who should replace Onzlee Ware in the General Assembly.

Monday, GOP leaders said Johnson is their nominee for the January 7th special election.

Caleb Coulter was also planning to run as a Republican, but in his letter to party leaders, he failed to declare he was a registered voter in the district and would support the party's nominee.

Coulter says he accepts responsibility for the omission, but wishes he had had an opportunity to correct his mistake. He says he appreciates the support he's received since he decided to run.

Four candidates are vying for the Democratic nomination. David Trinkle, Sam Rasoul, Court Rosen and Trish White-Boyd are facing off in Saturday's firehouse primary.

Don't see how you wouldn't accept responsibility for failing to do something as simple as declare you're a registered voter. Come on.

Don't see how you wouldn't accept responsibility for failing to do something as simple as declare you're a registered voter. Come on.

The back story here is that the local chairman accepted the letter instead of rejecting it for its deficiency. Then, after the deadline passed and both candidates had been certified, the chairman discovered the deficiency and disqualified him. Had the chairman rejected the letter when Caleb submitted it, he would have had time to fix the errors and resubmit. Some locals question the actions of the chairman and Caleb is simply saying "don't blame him" with that statement.
