Austrian School ideas are zipping across the Earth. Watch one of Murray Rothbard's greatest quotes thunder through the halls of the European Parliament on Nov. 21st. This is Godfrey Bloom MEP, Ind. (Yorkshire & Lincolnshire):

Speaking of avoiding taxes.

I'll bet they have central banks that pull dollars out of somewhere and issue them to others that pull bonds out of somewhere else.

I can't help but wonder what effect Capital Gains Taxes would have on their little party.

Shouldn't Rand be doing this in the Senate?

He'd be labeled a racist. But, yeah, a lot more "in your face" truth would be appreciated.

Not if he aspires to be anything more than a single term Senator. He clearly wants to be president.

Yeah, he is very un-PC. Shame.

But Nigel Farage is the party leader still no? Why would Farage force him out? Hes as UnPC as you can get.

You know how the establishment can be. Bloom said some very un-PC things and the Estab. was raging. Coming off the tremendous gains UKIP had only just recently made, they cut him loose.

The Yorkshire and Humber MEP, now sitting as an independent, said he had been "gagged" on subjects such as flat tax and drugs when he was in the party, so spoke about other issues.

Looks like they aren't on great terms any more.

Huh. Im out of date then. I still remember seeing them both together side by side in the EU parliament. Regardless he still holds his seat and UKIP will still be fine.

Because that's the way politics works. Once you get up the ladder, you quickly learn to fall in line. Or get booted.

Even those who claim to be principled are unwilling to give up the perks associated with those types of positions.

ClydeCoulter

It seems Bloom is still supportive of UKIP. It's a "public image" battle, and Bloom doesn't seem to want to play that game. As he says, "It's not at all on ground like it is in the political sphere, the language is totally different" (paraphrased).

Bloom blames the media for making it a contest between himself and Farage/UKIP.

looking at the guy's wiki, he doesn't appear to be the greatest poster boy for liberty, but I'm not complaining any time Rothbard is quoted in a parliament!

I would have preferred Bloom's presence in UKIP. His position as the economic spokesman kept UKIP going in a fiscally conservative direction. As he and his ideas got sidelined, UKIP grew more economically interventionist.
