"Blogger DoctorBeet discovered that his new LG television was surreptitiously sending information about his TV viewing habits, as well as the names of the files he watched on removable media, to LG's servers. There is an undocumented setting in the TV configuration which supposedly disables this behaviour, but an inspection of the network traffic between the TV and the Internet showed that the TV continues to send the data whether or not the setting is disabled. DoctorBeet contacted LG, but they shrugged the matter off, saying that it's a matter between him and the retailer he bought the TV from."

I wouldnt put anything past any major corporation at this point any more. The future has become a steaming pile of shit and corporate greed.

Further to our previous email to yourself, we have escalated the issues you reported to LG's UK Head Office.

The advice we have been given is that unfortunately as you accepted the Terms and Conditions...

Can't remember how many times I've pointed this phenomenon out. We're so quick to conform to terms of service and our label as "consumers" that we forget that we're first and foremost citizens...with rights. Terms of Service or Bill of Rights...pick one. Because as applicable right now they contradict one another.

It's reckless consumers and their terms of service agreements with some of these corporations that are the stalking horse for the destruction of the rights of the citizen. And, oh yes...the'll love them for it. Something about free market something or other. Belch...
