FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - An internal investigation is being conducted by Fredericksburg police after an officer allegedly used a taser on a subject for over 40 seconds.
According to Fredericksburg.com, the incident happened Saturday night in downtown Fredericksburg.
Police received a call from witnesses after the driver of a car allegedly struck several vehicles in the 200 block of Hanover.
According to the report, the driver of the car allegedly fled and the passenger, who was also the owner of the vehicle, was being detained by bystanders.
Investigators say the passenger was belligerent and threatened officers before trying to run.
The man, identified by Fredericksburg.com as 36-year-old Lantz Day, was then allegedly tasered by police for approximately 40 seconds.
A police spokesman said video posted online appears to show the incident being investigated. In the video, Day can be heard screaming aloud.
Day was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice.
