A company called Emergency Essentials is holding a special 48 hour sale. For each of the sale items you buy, they will donate $20 in supplies for relief efforts.

What you need to buy is either a "emergency kit" (Bug Out Bag) or a case of freeze dried food. Prices range from $98 - $180 per item.

My personal opinion is that BoB's should be assembled yourself, but these would make nice Christmas gifts or something good to toss in your trunk.

As to freeze dried food, their prices are about average for their monthly sales items, though they do have a 40% off sale once a year for Mountain House stuff, but you just missed that. It's a Mountain house thing, and they get a special price so pass on the savings. Hear, you don't get that great a discount, like 10%, which is their general monthly special price. Check the serving size for freeze dried stuff. Sometimes you get a lot, sometimes fewer servings - depends on the freeze dried food.

For every featured item sold in the next 48 hours (until 6 pm MST on 11/14) Emergency Essentials will donate $20 in supplies to CharityVision’s relief efforts for survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Below is a list of the featured items that you can purchase to help with CharityVision’s mission: - See more at: http://beprepared.com/blog/10488/help-the-victims-of-typhoon-haiyan/#sthash.DDZA2BnK.dpuf

If you do head over there, be sure you check out their other items. Every once and a while they have lave good sales on large pressure cookers for home canning, there is a hand crank food processor for $17 that we are quite impressed with, toilet seats to fit on 5 or 6 gallon buckets and enzymes to break down fecal matter/urine and get rid of the stench. (we had a discussion on emergency sanitation recently in a thread in Freedom Living) Many other unusual items... I'm a repeat customer and have always been very satisfied.

Just about everything in their catalog goes on sale from time to time, so best bet is get on their mailing list and wait for what you want to go on sale.
