Who can forget about this?

Back in October of 2007, I started getting interested in the presidential candidates. My parents were (real) anti-war Democrats, so I (as a young kid) just got on the Gore and Kerry train. When the Democrats took over the House back in 2007 and nothing changed, I felt pretty betrayed as a supporter of the Democratic Party. I also became interested in civil liberties issues (particularly the Patriot Act). So when early October roles around, I decide to go on Wikipedia and look up the presidential candidates. I ignored Obama and Clinton because by this time I figured they were just shills for the establishment. I saw Kucinich and Gravel, but knew they really had no chance to win. So I went ahead and did something I thought I would never do, see if their was a Republican I could support (I hated Bush, but was pretty pissed off at the Democrats). I see McCain (war mongerer) Giuliana (everything is wrong with him) Romney (just some rich guy) then I finally found him.......
Mike Huckabee.
I'm a good Christian, so why not support the Baptist minister? Sure he was for the war in Iraq, but he was a Christian!
After a few days (if that), I knew something did not feel right with Huckabee, so off to Wikipedia I went. That's when I finally stumbled upon Ron Paul. Holy $#!&. A lightbulb finally went off. This was the man I've been looking for all along. That afternoon there was a CNBC debate in Michigan. It was at this moment I was hooked:

I still didn't think Ron Paul had much of a chance at that point...until November 6th. I was watching CNN and heard about the previous day's moneybomb. I was extremely impressed by the money raised, and never wanted to miss another one...which is how I ended up on this site a couple of weeks later. The next two months were insane (December 16th moneybomb, the blimp :D, throwing snowballs at Sean Hannity).
Didn't expect to reminisce with this thread, but those first two big moneybombs always hold a special place in my heart. It made me want to get involved in the campaign, which lead to an education I never imagined. Thanks RPF!

hah, nice thanks for the reminder. Kind of bittersweet to think about who I was then vs who I am now, both politically and personally.

Wow, nostalgia. I first really started looking into Ron Paul after his big November 5th money bomb. On a side note where are all the v for vendetta threads?

Man, yeah, those moneybombs were the best! In a way, the name kinda fit as well, because they were almost like volleys fired at the MSM to finally get them to open their freaking eyes and pay attention...and it worked!
Me and my mom were lapping up all the CNN coverage on Nov. 5 and shortly thereafter, shouting, dancing around, and reveling in victory like we'd just won the lottery. The liberty movement hasn't had anything to be nearly that excited about in a while...but maybe one day.

I was at work and fixated on the ticker all day. It truly was a feeling that hasn't been matched. :(

What we did in 2008 and 2012 was truly revolutionary and historic. Ron understands it and that's why everything he does now is just house money...
My only true regret is this great man did not end up our President, even after watering himself down in 2012.

Positive note;
Ron's still spreading the gospel of freedom.

Ya I remember the smaller fundraiser at the end of the third quarter, end of September, we got him up to $2 mil total I believe.
I've been here since then, but I started as a lurker.
Continued to lurk until December, had to sign up and be apart of the ruckus for December 16th!!
I was more of a left/libertarian who was so sick of the left/right paradigm I had been voting for Nader.

They liked that I had my own opinion, and definitely agreed with many of Ron's views. Though in 08 they voted for John Edwards (lol), I was able to convince them last year to vote for Ron. :)

Yup, every year from November 5th - December 16th I get all excited again thinking of the first two moneybombs. Was glued to the ticker every day in between then.

I have siblings on both sides and they are adamant about their teams. Well, this has the makings of a great nostalgia thread, I'll stop derailing the thread and let all you Oh-Seveners continue to reminisce. Wish I was here then.

At this time I had donated everything I could afford to in that moneybomb and was just watching the ticker rise and encouraging others to give anything they could. The ticker kept going and going.. The last few minutes just went insane and history was made. I was sitting at my computer cheering and yes, even shedding a tear or two. That night we went from being the folks that the media ignored to the folks the media ridiculed yet feared... Viva La Revolution!

Truly great memories. I had a website (http://web.archive.org/web/20071106094432/http://thecaseforronpaul.com/default.aspx) that I had created to promote how Ron was crushing the straw polls and such. We were all kicking ass and having so much fun. It wasn't the same in 2011 but it was still fun in a different way. Back in 2007 I would spent time every day promoting Ron on news articles in the comments. When we had the money bombs I watched the count with my teenage son and had a blast. Speaking of good old days... where is Huck's Army? :D

I had the same idea (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?432393-Remember-Remember). It's important, and its fun, that we remember these victories. I hope everyone had a terrific Fifth of November.
