In a day or two, someone on Twitter or Facebook will post a picture of Mitt Romney or some other celebrity GOP, and it will get passed around with angry notations asserting that the media making the Democrats a protected class.

The preamble says the Constitution is to “promote the general Welfare” among other things. I’d argue that means that they can use tax money to provide services to citizens in need, including food (food stamps), housing (projects) and other services.

Even if there aren’t any social services, the government makes you pay for other people. When 9/11 happened, fighter jets were flying across New York. My federal tax money was used to protect New York, when I live on the west coast. What do I care about New York?

Funny how we have all these rules and safety caution signs, sometimes they dont work, to keep stupid people safe. No such thing as common sense... like not wade around on top of a water fall or not sitting on a rail above a lion pen.

I believe this is the reason we have yet to meet intelligent lifeforms and likely never will.

All intelligent species develop along a similar path where the selective pressures that once provided the noblest traits of man are subverted in the name of general welfare. We end up with a frantic race to the bottom, where society collapses under its own dead weight, and we start over, only to make the same mistake again.

That's why I believe any aliens capable of achieving interstellar spaceflight would be extremely dangerous, violent, and hostile. They would be divorced from conscience and devoid of any delusions of morality, right or wrong. Think the Uruk-Hai from TLOTR, but with plasma rifles, giant spaceships, and 1000 IQs.

I can see why some people would draw the conclusion that it's alluding to lynchings, but it's not a big deal ultimately and the guy is allowed to decorate his property as he wishes. It's harmless, and he doesn't have to take it down. The few people who complained are pretty sensitive I'd say.
