U.S. marshals, police arrest more than 100

By Corey Friedman | Times Online Editor

ROCKY MOUNT — Arrests poured in faster than the federal marshal could count.

A poster touting 95 arrests and 232 warrants served sat on an easel behind the podium where U.S. Marshal Scott Parker stood Thursday. Parker updated the total to 99 arrests and 243 warrants.

"As I speak, individuals are being arrested at this time,” Parker said.

Moments later, officials said the tally had topped 100.

Police, sheriff’s deputies and deputy U.S. marshals captured more than 100 people wanted on violent crime and drug charges in a two-week roundup dubbed Operation Spider Web. Parker announced the arrests in a Thursday news conference in Rocky Mount’s city council chambers.

"This is just one step, one tool that we’ll utilize on a regular basis,” Parker said. "We’ll never give up. We’ll never stop fighting this battle. We’ll be back, we ain’t leaving, and it won’t be a year. That’s all I’ve got to say.”

Authorities began the operation on Oct. 3 and added dozens of arrests in a roundup that began Tuesday morning and continued through Thursday. One suspect accused of shooting into a house faces an attempted murder charge.

"They went out and did their job and arrested these violent, dangerous individuals who should be in jail.”

Uhh, they arrested one person for shooting a gun at a house, and the other two they listed were both drug possession/sales charges...

"This investigation was a result of the great work of the men and women of the Rocky Mount Police Department,” he said. "They went out and did their job and arrested these violent, dangerous individuals who should be in jail.”

Violent? Dangerous?

Johnson faces six counts each of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of cocaine along with one count of maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for the sale of narcotics.

Puddy and Pittman each face charges of possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana. Authorities say they seized 61 grams of marijuana and a gun during Pittman’s arrest.

For the last couple of months homeland security has been asking for human trafficking leads, should we report them.

A former Nashville police officer and Nash County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant, Parker was sworn in as the region’s U.S. marshal in June 2010. President Barack Obama nominated Parker along with four other marshals.

Barak Hussein Obama is having others arrest others for something he used to do?? And what did this cost and what will it cost the taxpayers?

Why didn't they just pick them up as they found about about them, rather than wait till they had 100 warrants?

Rocky Mount is not a small town. Population density extends well beyond the municipal boundaries too, so the 60,000 some-odd record population only tells about a third of the picture.

Wow, 61 grams? That a lot, get those guys off the street! No wait, that's like two ounces. Nevermind.
