View Full Version : Trucking industry leader: Tea party a 'corrosive' force

"So much for the great trucker-tea party alliance.

Barely a week after conservative activists were counting on a massive protest by truck drivers to snarl the Beltway and bring President Barack Obama to heel, the head of the nation’s largest trucking industry organization denounced the right-wing movement Monday as a “corrosive” force that threatens the business community’s ties to the GOP.

“What’s most alarming is the collapse of the Republican Party and the emergence of the conservative wing of the party, most often referred to as the Tea Party, and its emergence as a very corrosive force,” American Trucking Associations President Bill Graves — a former Republican governor of Kansas — said at a group conference in Orlando, Fla."

I'm not very fond of the ATA. It represents the largest trucking companies and doesn't reflect the majority of small carriers and drivers. What the ATA really wants is politicians that will cater to the interests of these big trucking corporations at the expense of the rest of the industry.

If you want to know what's happening in DC, the go to ATA. If you want to know what's really happening out on the highway, then go to OOIDA.

Of course typical Marxist horseshit rag print agenda from POLITICO... continues

Time to vet this ESTABLISHMENT clown Bill Graves, CEO, ATA... Yep, he's #1 on Mitt Romney blunderers, NUMBER 1 !

Also donated to Trey Grayson over Rand Paul. Donations reflect establishment crony.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to phill4paul again

I actually still have a poster, from about 1974, of Mr. Natural, Keep on Trucking. My brother has several comic books of Mr. Natural and Fritz the Cat. Good times.:)

Big business hates any upset of the status quo, even something as mild mannered as the "tea party".

It was the same in 1775, with the real thing.

Which Tea Party? The Ron Paul Republicans that caused so many waves when they rocked the boat, or the fake "me too" Tea Party Members like Sarah Palin and the whole lot of liars and thieves that hide behind Flags and Bibles? To which Tea Party is he referring?

I'm pretty sure he is referring to whatever Tea Party keeps them from doing business as usual in Washington.

I wish more people understood that those people are not members of the Tea Party, they are flat out fucking phoneys.

"Corrosive Force" That's quite a compliment. We should use it.

Send this to ATA CEO, Bill Graves... we all know too well, this is about the cronyism, graft, and corruption within the DC beltway, and big organizations BUYING influence and corporate welfare.

Bill Grave better wakeup, because he's out numbered in lobbyists and millions by Big Rail, Air Transports, and mega-corp ground transports... The Indie trucker is getting screwed, as the shipping business becomes another Fascist-Corrupt entity by Big Government and their welfare kickback system of bribery and power.

Graves doesn't care about the Indies. The ATA shills for the big companies.
