We all saw this in late December of 2011, when CNN put out a fake poll showing Santorum at 15% in Iowa or something, and it basically single-handily caused Mr. 2%-All-Year to "surge" and win the Iowa Caucus.

PPP even tweeted that CNN's poll was flawed, and that his whole "surge" was likely the result of a bad poll getting him a sudden burst of ceaseless media coverage right before the vote.
