View Full Version : Cory Booker equates Israel to dream of MLK

There was a SWC plant pick saying recently that MLK would have supported wars in Iraq, Afghanistan (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?430788-New-Obama-HS-Chief-MLK-would-love-our-wars!&p=5273202&viewfull=1#post5273202). Now notorious Cory Booker caught on camera pandering like a political prostitute. Funny no one asked him a question about Palestinian children, children of God, living under occupation:

"A true revolution of values will lay hand on the world order and say of war, 'This way of settling differences is not just.' This business of burning human beings with napalm, of filling our nation's homes with orphans and widows, of injecting poisonous drugs of hate into the veins of peoples normally humane, of sending men home from dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice, and love." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I was put into a jail once on this account, for one night; and, as I stood considering the walls of solid stone, two or three feet thick, the door of wood and iron, a foot thick, and the iron grating which strained the light, I could not help being struck with the foolishness of that institution which treated me as if I were mere flesh and blood and bones, to be locked up. . . . I saw that, if there was a wall of stone between me and my townsmen, there was a still more difficult one to climb or break through, before they could get to be as free as I was."

Perhaps, but at least Loonigan did his Firster-ism without deploying "MLK Dream".

On a different note, what happens when an American Dream-er goes to Israel to non-violently speak up for equal rights for people under occupation:

Meet the pro-Israel donors who boosted Cory Booker’s Senate run Alex Kane (http://mondoweiss.net/author/alex-kane) on October 25, 2013 2 (http://mondoweiss.net/2013/10/donors-boosted-bookers.html#comments)

Senator-elect Cory Booker, who was boosted during his campaign by pro-Israel donors, is set to arrive in the halls of Congress on October 31. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/10/23/cory-booker-to-be-sworn-in-oct-31/)
Booker made his name as Newark mayor and won a special election to replace New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg last week. He defeated a Tea Party Republican though his campaign was rocky, marred by accusations that Booker was a showboat. A New York Times article, (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/07/nyregion/tech-magnates-bet-on-booker-in-web-venture.html?_r=0)featuring political ethics watchdogs who questioned his large stake in a Silicon Valley company that made him rich, added to his woes. Nevertheless, he won both his primary and general races easily.
Booker’s fundraising overwhelmed his opponents during the Democratic primary, and a group of donors with hawkish views on Israel helped him win the cash race, though foreign policy played little role in the election. The Senator-elect’s views on Israel have been shaped by his close ties to people like Rabbi Shmuley Boteach (http://mondoweiss.net/2013/06/connection-fundamentalism-community.html), so the money was more of a bonus than an inducement to push the cause of the Jewish state. As he enters the Senate, he could become one of its more outspoken pro-Israel members at a time when the body could vote on new sanctions on Iran and bills to upgrade the U.S.-Israel relationship even further.
In late July and early August, a newly formed Super PAC called the Mobilization Fund (http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2013/10/new-jersey-senate-race.html)dropped $532,000 in cash on Booker. The money was used for the “pro-Booker ground game — canvassing operations, literature and telephone calls,” according to the Center for Public Integrity’s Adam Wollner. (http://www.publicintegrity.org/2013/08/12/13168/pro-booker-pac-propelled-hedge-fund-money)
According to tax records I reviewed the Mobilization Fund only has six donors (http://www.opensecrets.org/outsidespending/contrib_all.php?cmte=C00546911&type=A&cycle=2014). They are all hedge fund leaders or corporate CEOs, and 4 of the 6 are big on Israel. Here they are:
- Hedge fund manager Seth Klarman, who gave the Super PAC $100,000, has given money (http://mondoweiss.net/2011/11/why-is-charlie-rose-hugging-seth-klarman.html) to settler groups through the Central Fund of Israel and spends $1 million a year on Birthright. Klarman is also on the board of the Israel Project, gives a lot of money to the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces and is co-chairman of the David Project’s board, an organization promoting Israel on campus that has targeted pro-Palestinian professors.
- Michael Fux, the CEO of a sleep products company, also gave $100,000 to the Mobilization Fund. Fux has sat on the board of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (http://www.fidf.org/page.aspx?pid=286), which spends money on Israeli soldiers, since at least 2009.
- Cousins Laurie and Andrew Tisch gave a little less–$50,000– to the Super PAC, they’re likewise big on promoting Israel. Andrew Tisch was a trustee at the Jewish Communal Fund in 2001 when they gave over $76,000 to the media group CAMERA, which badgers news outlets to take a more pro-Israel view, and $102,400 to the AIPAC-affiliated American Israel Education Fund. While he was president of the Jewish Communal Fund in 2003, $100,000 was given to Nefesh B’Nefesh, which promotes American Jews emigrating to Israel, including to West Bank settlements (http://mondoweiss.net/2010/06/israeli-expo-in-nyc-markets-settlement-penthouses.html). Tisch has also been a trustee for a number of years at the AIPAC-spinoff think tank called the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
- Laurie Tisch, is the vice president of the Tisch Foundation. In 2005, the fund gave $15,000 to the American Jewish Committee and $50,000 to the Anti-Defamation League.
Both Tisches and Fux also gave directly to Booker’s Senate campaign in addition to another pro-Booker PAC. Michael Steinhardt, another pro-Israel hedge funder who gives lots of money to Birthright, spent $5,000 on CoryPAC this year. (http://www.opensecrets.org/usearch/?q=michael+steinhardt&searchButt_clean.x=28&searchButt_clean.y=34&searchButt_clean=Submit&cx=010677907462955562473%3Anlldkv0jvam&cof=FORID%3A11) And Booker was helped by NORPAC, a pro-Israel donor group. In April, for instance, (http://www.njjewishnews.com/article/17247/nj-pro-israel-pac-raises-funds-for-cory-booker#.Umq1SmQ4XKw)NORPAC raised over $100,000 for the Senator-elect.
Booker could soon find himself voting on sanctioning Iran over its nuclear energy program.

Not so!

just pandering to Israel, with eyes on 2016.
You all underestimate Booker's mindset here. He is not "just pandering" to Israel. He's built his entire political career around it! Someone told him early on who you need to suck up to if you want to succeed in politics without really trying!

One day in the mid-1990s, when I was a student at Oxford, I went to the L’Chaim Society to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim…. …What was surprising was that at the center of the debauchery stood an athletic, handsome African-American Christian named Cory Booker. He was the L’Chaim Society’s president….

…when Booker left Oxford for Yale Law School, he founded a Jewish society there too, now called Eliezer. This time his primary partner was a Chabad rabbi named Shmully Hecht. Twenty years later, Booker remains close to both Shmuley and Shmully. Boteach has taken him to pray at the last Lubavitcher rebbe’s grave. Booker says he studies Torah weekly with each rabbi, usually over the phone. (Hecht—with whom I’ve maintained a both friendly and contentious relationship—confirms that he and Booker talk once a week. Boteach didn’t return two emails.) And judging by Booker’s speeches to Jewish audiences, which he peppers with references to the weekly Torah portion, the studying has paid off.

….there are two competing explanations for all this. The first is that Booker is a master cynic. Early on, the theory goes, he realized that befriending rabbis would help him win the trust of New Jersey’s influential Jewish community. But not just any rabbis….Booker has forged ties to rabbis on the right of the Jewish religious spectrum. The brilliance of that strategy, Booker skeptics suspect, is that he doesn’t need rabbis to win over progressive, relatively secular Jews: they vote for liberal Democrats like him anyway. What Boteach and Hecht provide is entrée into the largely Republican Orthodox community, which is particularly strong in the Garden State.

…if Booker once needed Shmuley and Shmully as chaperones into the Jewish world, he doesn’t anymore. He now has an impressive network of Jewish (and non-Jewish donors) throughout the greater New York area and beyond. Even in the Orthodox community, notes the Forward, he’s befriended influential figures like the Orthodox Union’s Menachem Genack. People close to Eliezer claim its alumni network represents a fertile source of contributions.

….The alternative explanation, more popular among Booker’s friends….“Cory’s actually quite innocent,” notes Feldman. “He’s a person who’s genuinely curious, genuinely open, and loves a feeling of community. When he walked into L’Chaim he found this student community that Shmuley had created that was genuinely warm, genuinely welcoming. There wasn’t a single other institution like that at Oxford, and so Cory threw himself into it in his typically warm, energetic way.”

Booker and Obama are progressives, not neocons, but since you evidently have an obsession with neocons, you see them everywhere.

First, they were called neocons's tools, not neocons as that requires some power to make policies that these two don't have.

Second, how are these mid/low level puppets of neocons, money baggers, bankers "progressives" exactly?

Col West is progressive and he calls SWC a war criminal.
Bill Ayers is a progressive and he calls Obama a war criminal.

Get your facts straight.

Uh, Israelis have every right to decide who can move into their country. There is not a thing wrong with them doing that.

Do native resident Palestinians who were born on that land have every right also to allow/not allow in foreign immigrant refugees trying to escape anri-semitism in Russia, Poland, Germany, France, New Yprk etc or fulfil some prophecy in ancient religious books?

I'm curious if you can answer this question.

This is bit off topic though as main topic is MLK dream equation to an oppression occuption regime.

What about the people who were there before this nation state and are having their homes stolen as we speak? Shouldn't they play a role in this decision? So far the only role they seem to play is reacting violently and I certainly can't blame them.

They are progressives as they support the introduction of European socialism in the United States with policies like Obamacare. Some think Obama is a war criminal, others don't. Regardless, progressivism is inherently interventionist (see Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman or Woodrow Wilson), they aren't all being controlled by neocons.

What facts? Can you show me facts that a shadowy group of neocons secretly controls this country?

Ted Cruz is an NeoCon

1) He isn't a neocon and since you have accused multiple members on here of being neocons, your allegations hold little weight
2) He isn't in control

I just realized my forum name abbreviation reads as MLK for someone who is unable to vocalize L properly. Mind blown.

No of course not Ted Cruz isn't a neocon when his kneeling down in front of the White House begging for an Military Intervention.

since you have accused multiple members on here of being neocons
The last time i checked this forum is called ronpaulforums former name liberty forum. Its an libertarian forum not an Ted Cruz worshiping forum Oh and yeah Ted Cruz isn't libertarian.

The fact that they have being praising about Ted Cruz is quite showing and also nice lie there i haven't accused multiple members on here of being neocons. Just you and some that have replied to me about recent issues.

Case i have seen NeoCons pretending to be libertarians before its not my first time. NeoCons like yourself get easily emotional once someone attacks Capitalism.

This regime is heavily US tax payers funded, would this damage GOP-Adelson wing's & Booker's chances in 2020?

Cory Booker Announces 2020 Presidential Bid
Mr. Booker announced his candidacy on the first day of Black History Month to the sound of snare drums and with a clarion call for unity. In an email to supporters, he drew on the spirit of the civil rights movement as he laid out his vision for a country that will “channel our common pain back into our common purpose.”
