Please post here if you would like for a candidate to have a campaign evaluation thread created for them.

Thank you.

Is this only for "new" candidates, or for ones we have already vetted to a certain extent? If we want to be all-inclusive, I'll nominate Greg Brannon, Lee Bright, Nancy Mace, Paul Broun, Matt Bevin and Pat McGeehan for threads.

I can't speak for Bryan's intent but I think:

1. This is for all candidates. This forum should be as exhaustive as possible as a quick reference for members to find info about any candidate they are thinking of supporting.
2. Obviously there will be a backlog to start - I imagine we'll be spacing out the creation of these threads to some extent in order to allow users to weigh in on all candidates without being overwhelmed (not to mention the moderators being overwhelmed!).

Greg Brannon US Senate from North Carolina

Strong strict Constitutionalist
Solid Tea Party backing
Drafted by Glen Bradley
Endorsed by Rand Paul
Moderate to capable fundraising
hard-workingest candidate in my memory

SoCon plant has been installed to split the vote
Head to head against a status quo establishment money machine
No electoral experience running for US Senate out of the gate

No deal breakers that I am aware of.

This guy has the principle prowess of Ron and the rhetorical ability of Rand

I'm privy to a lot of information about this candidate. We are looking at him as the liberty candidate in the CD13 special election in the Tampa Bay Area. You guys are going to cry tears of joy when RLC of Tampa Bay releases his responses to their questionnaire.

Electibility... YUP. There is no neocon hawk alive that can call this Marine a dove. Yet, his foreign policy looks so sound you'd probably consider him for pres lol. The guy has the resume, the looks, and the policy views. I have not yet heard him give a speech aside from the youtube video below with all the darn plates and forks.

Mark Bircher

Bircher, a candidate to fill U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young's congressional seat, has lived a fascinating life, steeped in achievement. He is a Naval Academy graduate, a lawyer, an airline pilot, a retired Marine Corps Reserve brigadier general and a former Blue Angel pilot who was once featured in a Van Halen music video.

I want to say that I think that statewide offices are important.

Do you guys know who Eric Larson is? He's the guy that Justin Amash wanted to replace Justin Amash in the Michigan House, but he lost to a traditional Republican. Ugh. We need people waiting in the wings. It's not good to cut political teeth on a national race. (Yes I know Rand did it, but he's an exception.)

Having said that, I'm all for endorsing Phillip Campbell at the state level for Michigan District 57 State Rep.

http://electphilcampbell.blogspot.com/p/home-page.html

But from a pragmatic stand point, those races don't generate much interest, and there's a danger of losing track of candidates in the sea of names out there too.

Subject: Campaign Evaluation: JACK RUSSELL THOMPSON (WA State Legislative District 20, position 1.)

Candidate Name: Jack Russell Thompson
Office Sought: WA state Representative, Legislative District 20, position 1.
Website: TBD
Social Media: TBD

Candidate Profile: On the Issues
Civil Liberties: [Rating TBD]
Constitutional Issues: [Rating TBD]
Economic Issues: [Rating TBD]
Foreign Policy: [Rating TBD]
Social Issues: [Rating TBD]
Overall Issues Rating: [Rating TBD]

Race Profile: Incumbent Richard Debolt. Republican. in office since 1998. Former House Minority Leader. I will be running as a Libertarian.
State: WA
District: 20 Legislative
Incumbent: Richard Debolt
Other Primary Candidates: TOP TWO PRIMARY
Non-Incumbent Candidates from Other Parties: None Announced
Relevant poll numbers: None.
Overall Race Profile Rating: [Rating TBD]

Miscellaneous Pros/Cons
Key strong points: No Challenger. We will both be strong of fiscal liberty. I will be stronger on social liberty and civil liberty.

Unknown points for further research:

Possible weak points: Strong R district

Possible deal breakers: Not enough financial support. Democrat candidate enters the race and takes away my social liberty support.

Overall Rating: TBD

Here is my proposal. I get a Pledge website up and running. I will need to have two things happen. 1. The last day of official registration ends and there are no Democrats in the race. 2. I reach $10,000 in pledges by the last day of registration. If both of those things happen, I will immediately register my candidacy, have a money bomb for the pledges, and start an ad blitz. If neither, or just one of those two things happens, I will notify pledges to keep their money to give to other liberty candidates. I would be running as Libertarian against the Republican. In WA, we have top two, so if there is no democrat, I am guaranteed a 1 on 1 runoff clear through the General election.

How about the guy that is running against Eric Cantor? Dave Brat. He is supposedly an economist. Which school?

What We Believe

Dave Brat fully supports the Republican Creed, and any leader who unflinchingly upholds that Creed which reads as follows...

We Believe…

That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice,
That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society,
That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all levels of government,
That the Federal Government must preserve individual liberty by observing Constitutional limitations,
That peace is best preserved through a strong national defense,
That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation.

... unfortunately, however, our current congressman, Eric Cantor, has failed to uphold that Creed, and it is time for a change. It is time to term limit Eric Cantor.

Promoting Economic Growth

Dave Brat, Ph.D., is a free market economist who has dedicated his life to educating college students, business professionals and civic and religious groups on economics and ethics. Dave wants to help create jobs and prosperity and knows that the free market system is the only proven way to stimulate innovation and economic growth.

Eric Cantor, on the other hand, distorts the free market by picking winners and losers, and only allows big business and big donors a seat at his table: a table that we in the 7th district do not share.

Dave Brat thinks everyone is the 7th district should have an equal voice and equal access.

This major difference in background and philosophy provides significant insights as to the contrasts between how Dave Brat and Eric Cantor will approach their job as your congressman.

Every day, Dave Brat will fight to grow our economy, boost opportunities for hard working Americans, and stabilize the economic health of our nation so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy greater prosperity.

While Dave Brat understands that such goals can never be achieved through the growth of government and increased spending, Eric Cantor has embraced big government over the course of his tenure.

Throughout his entire career, Eric Cantor has supported countless measures and budgets to increase our debt and grow government. Despite his fiscal rhetoric, Eric Cantor voted for new spending measures like Medicare Part D, TARP bailouts, Chinese bailouts, Wall Street bailouts, two unfunded wars, and backed the kick-the-can-down-the-road Ryan-Murray budget.

Dave Brat understands that an economy cannot thrive with such a crushing national debt, and will oppose the efforts of status quo politicians like Eric Cantor to continue to spend money we do not have.

Many young people are now beginning to understand the “inter generational” theft that is occurring. We charge the tab, and they will pay the bill. Unlike Eric Cantor, Dave Brat will fight for the younger generation.

Despite the president’s own admission to congressional leadership that millions of Americans would lose their insurance due to Obamacare, Eric Cantor and other members of the Establishment failed to make a compelling case to the American people.

We have seen time and time again that leadership is about more than holding a particular title. Real leaders are willing to take a stand and step up to the podium to articulate conservative principles and educate the public on what we can do to solve these problems.

Eric Cantor has failed to address the biggest issues of our time:

Deficits without End, Debt over $17 Trillion and Unfunded Entitlement Liabilities are over $125 Trillion.

Our debt rises, Obamacare remains the law of the land, businesses are still afraid to hire, and families are still struggling to make ends meet. Jobs are scarce and, if we continue on the same path, the future is bleak.

As our congressman, Dave Brat will end the reckless spending and fight every day to get rid of Obamacare. He will work to end the economic uncertainty caused by the lack of leadership in Washington and seek to restore confidence in our dollar, our marketplace, and our national credit.

Dave Brat is a free market conservative with the right background and experience to get our nation’s economy back on track.

Dave Brat offers conservatives in the 7th District a clear choice this June. Send Dave Brat to Washington where he will restore your voice and work hard to provide the fiscal and regulatory restraint needed for a free economy to thrive.

Tom McMillin - Michigan State Senate District 13

I'm excited about this race since I live in the district and will be doing what I can to work the ground game. Liberty activists in Michigan know McMillin is the real deal. This will probably be one of the most competitive legislature races in the State. McMillin has a lot going for him, but also has challenges.

His views align closely with Justin Amash (they worked closely together in the legislature). With only 38 members in the Senate he would be able to do much more to protect civil liberties and maybe strengthen the anti-NDAA statute. Also, he lives in Mike Rogers' district....

I'll briefly summarize the "meat and potatoes" of his views:

Candidate Name: Tom McMillin
Office Sought: Michigan State Senate District 13
Website: http://tommcmillin.com/issues/
Social Media:
https://twitter.com/TomMcMillin
https://www.facebook.com/TomMcMillinMI

Candidate Profile: On the Issues
Civil Liberties: Outstanding. Takes the lead in sponsoring a number of different bi-partisan bills to reign in the police state.
Economic Issues: Has voted against corporate welfare unlike other competitors.
Foreign Policy: He's non-interventionist. He shared a recent facebook story from the Ron Paul Institute and said he's moved closer to Ron Paul's way of thinking on national defense.
Social Issues: Pro-life, pro-traditional marriage. Wants to decriminalize marijuana and end the federal drug war.

Race Profile: Competition & Demographics
State: Michigan
District: State Senate 13
Incumbent: None [John Pappageorge is Term-limited]
Primary Candidates: Marty Knollenberg, Rocky Raczkowski, Chuck Moss, Al Gui [not a serious candidate?]
Primary Date: August 5th 2014

Relevant poll numbers:
Knollenberg 25.32%
Raczkowski 21.09%
McMillin 17.09%
Moss 9.92%
Undecided 26.58%

http://www.scribd.com/doc/211051612/Knollenberg-Leads-in-13th-State-Senate-District

The poll acknowledges McMillin will be a factor in the race.

Demographics: While the district has become less Republican, it still leans Republican by well over 50%. It contains some of the wealthiest cities in the state.

Miscellaneous Pros/Cons
Key strong points: Is the only candidate who is a sitting legislator (Knollenberg, Moss & Raczkowski are former State Reps.). Has substantial support in the northern area of the district. Has great grassroots support from tea party and liberty activists. He met his goal for fundraising last quarter.

Possible weak points: Knollenberg and Raczkowski have higher name recognition in the district. Raczkowski has run in high profile US Senate and US House races, but lost. The three competitors are likely to get much more special interest money and support from high profile establishment politicians.

Can I get an evaluation for Tho Bishop of Florida House District 6? I think his mix of DC experience, strict adherence to liberty principles and political skills make him one of the most impressive liberty candidates in the entire country.

Tim Donnelly - Governor - CA. Currently leads the polls for the republican primary. www.electtimdonnelly.com

He is pretty good but has no shot at the general. His campaign will be more educational, but could help Rand primary there in 2016.

The conservative website Illinois Review reported that “While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party.

House of Representatives, Mississippi, 2016, Greg Harper's seat... Free advice and help appreciated. I have no chance of winning, at least as of now, certainly. But I intend to focus on the issues of schools being paid to drug our children, and our government promoting a diabetes, cancer, and heart disease inducing diet in general - along with Harper's unconstitutional votes. A marijuana initiative is being circulated now. It is not mine, but I may offer an alternative one, and the issue would draw attention to the school drugging situation if it is approved for the 2016 ballot.

Thank you to those that tried to help me earlier this year. I had the form filled out and a check in my hand but decided against running at that time, partly due to personal reasons and partly to time restraints.

Please help me out by friending me and promoting my facebook event notification before I send invite all my "normal" facebook friends.

Can a Gary Johnson evaluation thread be created?

+1 lets do it

There have been several over the last six years. What are they lacking?

Here is one of several:

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?388623-Can-We-Finally-Move-Gary-Johnson-To-Defenders-Of-Liberty-Section-Now

Do you find it lacking? Why? I'm happy to jump on board with you if you have a good reason.

It's a lot of work and I don't think she'll ever chill. But if you really think you can shut her up that way, let's try it.

Serious request:

Jason Lewis for Congress, MN CD2.

I would like to kindly have this guy vetted for support here. I admit that he may not align with everything liberty oriented 100%, but he'd be well over 60-70% in my eyes, and he's already endorsed by Rand.

Here's a thread elsewhere on this forum where Lewis is being discussed - http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?497442-Rand-Paul-endorses-Jason-Lewis-for-congress-(MN-02)

I live in his district and am familiar with his history, so I could try to help answer questions.

I'd like to make two requests. Both of these men are running for Governor in Florida:

Randy Wiseman (LPF)
Wiseman has been a former member of the Lake County School Board, and was a candidate at the local level a few other times. He's the owner of a Gym (for gymnastics), runs a Real Estate Business, and is quite active in his church (he highlights it a lot).
Website: https://www.randywiseman.com
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RandyWiseman2018/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/Wiseman2018

Bob White (GOP)
Currently serves as the Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida
Website: http://www.bobforflorida.com/
FB: https://www.facebook.com/BobWhiteForFloridaGovernor/?pnref=story
Twitter: https://twitter.com/BobWhiteForGov

Both look to have good stances on liberty (from what I've been able to find so far) and seem to be really nice. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing these two grow and become more popular in their respective parties.

I would like to request a liberty evaluation for Patrick Little, running for US Senate in California.

littlerevolution.us

He may not only solve the world's foremost problem, he may also solve problems with other worlds as well.

He requests taking a picture of your ballet:

https://littlerevolution.us/2018/06/03/israeli-owned-voting-machines/

We will come in first in the primaries if you do the following at the polls on Tuesday:

1 Demand a paper ballot.
2 Bring a black ink ballpoint pen with you.
The other candidates are not getting any support. But if you vote on the Israeli-owned voting machines, the ballot images of votes cast for me will be destroyed.

No pencils. And take a picture of your ballot.

He's catching on, I'm telling you.

https://littlerevolution.us/2018/06/03/opponents-spill-the-beans-were-actually-leading-in-polls/

SurveyUSA’s April poll revealed that Patrick Little was set to finish second in the California Senate primaries. With 18% of the vote, more than double the next candidate, it was foretold Little would face off against Feinstein.
