Hitler was able to rise to power, IN a democracy and primarily leveraging the ability to speak eloquently, convincingly and with the ability to scare the german citizenry into giving up THEIR constitutional government. It was not isolationism that prompted his rise to power, it was the result of that rise which was allowed because of fear.
