House Republican leaders will offer President Obama a six-week extension of the nation’s debt limit that would not end the government shutdown now in its 10th day.

In exchange, Republicans want a commitment from the White House to negotiate a longer-term budget plan that would reopen the government.

What I thought about typing here is too crude, even for me.

Yes, it's a bit like prisoners having hunger strikes.

I wasn't pointing out the jacked up policy decision, but the divergence in perspectives. As much as I despise Boehner, I have to sympathize just a tiny little bit on this, because he's getting whacked on all sides. The left is screaming because he's too far right, the right is screaming because he's too far left, and the middle is screaming because he's too far off-center. It's funny, because that's the same thing those buggars did to us in 2008 and 2012. Kismet. Karma. Sow and Reap.

ETA - also, the fact that such divergence is being highlighted on Ron Paul Forums.

When does this hit the floor?

Everyone with a republican congressman should be firing off hate mail right now.

If they suspend the debt ceiling again, it becomes a trend. Remember that this is what they did 6 months ago, for the first time ever, I think. If they suspend it for 6 weeks that's really more like 3 months, isn't it? First thing they'll do is "catch up" on the late bills, maybe even pay some things ahead of time. So you could see 3 months worth of debt racked up in 6 weeks. And then they can do the same thing over again. They could probably get good at it and only have to suspend the limit twice a year maybe. Just compress 6 months worth of spending into one month.

My head is spinning at the fact that my post was attached to the "left." :)
