States have individual legislation funding the program, but because there is Fed oversight the program is suspended.

In an effort to use your government as a weapon of brute political force, the administration is not only using your tax dollars to kick people out of their privately owned homes on federal land to “make it painful”, but now they have chosen to shut down the “Amber-Alert” system in the event of a child abduction as well.

As a former federal agent I find this to be a dangerous development in a litany of recent disturbing developments.

Was it across state lines are within your own state. It would be interesting to know if the multi-state component is still working. Its important to get the facts of what is and isn't working correct. Credibility is easily lost and hard to gain.

Politics as usual. Shut it all down, forever. Amber Alerts do not work. Look, here's an article from Slate magazine for heaven's sake: http://www.slate.com/blogs/crime/2013/08/08/amber_alert_california_let_s_get_rid_of_the_amber_ alert_system.html

The 200 people I saw complaining about this on Twitter were all anti-Obama. Thanks to them,

When I had info about the abduction of a girl Amber's age, the Government gagged me from alerting the press.
