Saturday Night Live featured a gay John Boehner and Miley Cyrus as a slutty Michele Bachmann last night, celebrating shutting down the federal government in a house party themed “We Can’t Stop” parody music video that can only be described as brilliant or wildly offensive — or both.

The choice of portraying the Speaker of the House as gay certainly will raise many eyebrows, and if the intention was to malign Boehner by making him gay, well, that in itself is offensive..


Not clear if Obama team and media/hollywood SNL owners had a conference call before this campaign targetting the GOP led House speaker but here is Obama swipe at Boehner:

It was obvious the GOP would take the blame initially, they've taken the brunt of the media blame (predictable) and the Dems painting them as crazies (predictable).

BUT

I think the longer the shutdown lasts, with the GOP passing piecemeal bills, then the Dems constant refusal to negotiate will start having a negative impact. Especially if the Republicans stick to the message like Rand and Cruz did on the Sunday talk shows. I'd be interested to see what polling would look like a week into the shutdown.

This is something I can't understand. You admit that the GOP is taking blame, so you want them to take even more of it?

You just put your hand in the boiling water, and now you see no point in backing down, because you're already in pain? And why should the Democrats back down when you're mostly hurting yourself?
