As much as I hate, hate, hate Nancy Pelosi, couldn't that statement be interpreted as, "Don't use [the veterans], we owe [the veterans] too much?"

It could indeed. Which would mean that Pelosi is hypocritcally "using" veterans to score cheap rhetorical points.

So don't worry - you can safely continue hating, hating, hating Nancy Pelosi without qualification or concession ...
