The biggest immediate impact could be felt in Head Start programs, though, which are still reeling from federal sequestration cuts that pushed 57,000 children out of the preschool program for low-income children. According to the National Head Start Association (NHSA), an advocacy group, 23 programs in 11 states with grant cycles that begin Oct. 1 are poised to lose grant money due to the shutdown.

“Beyond the headline numbers, this shutdown has real consequences,” said NHSA Director Yasmina Vinci in a statement. “Government shutdown is one cut atop an already deep wound.”

In Prentiss, Miss., a town of about 1,100 people an hour south of Jackson, the Five County Child Development Program closed its Head Start classes on Tuesday after failing to receive funding. “The only funds we have coming in are the federal dollars,” said Jonathan Bines, director of the Head Start program, which serves about 900 children.

Congress on Jul 25, 2013 increased the DOD budget by $28.1 BILLION above sequestered amount, of the phony project cuts of the Increased spending for the FY2014 budget... go after the bombers, bullets, and police state tyranny funds.

On top of that... WASHINGTON is Shipping $28 billion worth of equipment out of Afghanistan over the next year and a half won’t be easy. Yet the DOD requested an additional $48 Billion for Afghan OCO operations FY14. Instead of militarizing the US police departments, go sell the used military gear to foreign nations and send it to HEADSTART. Oh I forgot, US contractors and the security state have already worked out their insider deals... people have to choose to either fund the war-police state or something else is they are complaining about funding.

Notice how the government employee is treated as an expert on what the legislation should be that affects her employment.

That's one of the millions of unintended consequences of every government program that ever gets made, it naturally includes within powers the publishing of propaganda that supports its existence. What was once debated becomes undebatable policy.

Every government agency has a website and countless glossy pamphlets that praise its own existence, all paid for by taxpayers, including the ones who don't agree.
