Ok I think there needs to be a lot of talk on this idea which is to launch an hour-long server test/money bomb during November 30th. The point here is to try and get absolutely as many people involved as possible. The aim is to make $1 million at least in one hour by getting 40,000 donors to give an average of $25 each. Right now with fundraising likely to reach $9.5 million before November 30th or possibly even make it to $9.6 million and then estimating around $750,000 for November 30th along with offline donations of about $200,000 it's most likely that the only amount that could be reached is about $10.55 million.

However, if 40,000 donors can drop just $25 it will bring that up to $11.55 million. If, even further, all previous donors or most could donate it could mean $2.67 million and around $13.17 million before December, which at our current pace could mean $15.5 million before December 16th and with a huge showing there could end up beating the record for most money raised in a quarter by getting over $32.5 million by the end of December.

If this is going to happen though it needs broad coordination now with all meetups and grassroots to find a perfect time to launch this hour-long money bomb.

Note: Mods the other thread can be deleted since this one has the polls.

On a Friday evening, I think the best time to do $1 million in one hour is between 9 PM and 10 PM EST when the West Coast folks will be home from work in time to join in. Unfortunately, this is not the best approach to reach the coinciding goal of $12 million. For that goal, the money needs to be raised earlier in the day in order to generate buzz.

I'll trade a little bit of buzz for having more people at home. :)

Where is our money coming from? The west and New Hampshire.

Therefore, we need to make sure the westerners are home and we NHfolk aren't drunk yet (nation's highest per capita alcohol consumption). :)

Therefore... I'm going with 8-9pm Eastern (FST*) and that would be 5-8pm Pacific.

But it being Friday os the best reason to do it in the evening - people are mostly at work during the day on Friday.

Yeah, it seems like that's the time. I'm saying 7 to 8 P.M. EST would be the time to do it, but it will require a lot of exposure very quickly and I think honestly, people aren't paying attention because I'm the only one putting up topics about it. I'm sure if someone more notable on the forums started putting up discussions about it and with a set time it would actually be possible to get a lot of people on board.

7-8pm EST is 4-5pm Pacific time. People there aren't out of work yet, for the most part. We need to have as many people out of work during that hour as possible.

Some people have different work hours or can get online to donate, but this is just something that has to be done and it seems support is for 7 to 8P.M. EST.
