Why don't they understand the difference between a non interventionist and an isolationist?

to add to that, I would ask, "Tell me what you think isolationist means?"

Briefly educate what "isolationist" is: non-interventism + protectionism (barriers to all trading and cultural exchange with other countries)

Great snippet from http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig6/scheuer6.html

As you listen to Dr. Paul, you will hear his opponents describe him as an evil isolationist, but neither Dr. Paul nor America has ever been isolationist. Indeed, the term “isolationist” is merely a deceptive slur that America’s bipartisan elite hurls at those citizens who prefer not to waste their wealth or children’s lives in other peoples’ wars. Since its inception, the United States has been a trading nation and a country fully involved in economic, scientific, educational, and commercial affairs around the world. At its best, America has been sturdily non-interventionist, recognizing both that it has more than enough to do to expand liberty’s domain and the equality of opportunity at home, and that non-essential foreign adventures can only slow or even undo liberty and opportunity for Americans at home.

In an America led by the non-interventionist Dr. Paul, the world would see a more confident and less aggressive nation; a nation more humble, prosperous, and equitable; and a nation willing to let all other nations and peoples work out their own destinies, peaceably or violently, as they wish. America would get back to its own business and interests, and the rest of the post-Cold War world’s nations would be left alone to try, at long last, to grow into responsible adults.

Why don't they understand the difference between a non interventionist and an isolationist?

They do understand the difference. They are trying to belittle him.

The good doctor said it best: Rudy and friends are the true isolationists. They isolate us by uniting the rest of the world against us, and they actually make America less safe and less prosperous in the process. Worst of both worlds, really.

That's a good tactic if you want them to go away, but wouldn't it be better if they were a Ron Paul supporter? America needs Ron and Ron needs everyone's support, so this means you have a chance to be a hero. How?

Educate them what an isolationist is - one who creates strife in the world and makes enemies - and then tell them what a non-interventionalist is - one who stays out of the affairs of others, is friendly, negotiates, trades, and travels with. That's what Ron is. That's what the founding fathers were and that's what they advised.

Since Guiliani is seeking to further the war, he is the isolationist. Actually, all the candidates are in both parties, except Ron, because they all promise to perpetuate the war to some degree. Only Ron wants to stop it cold right now.

If they still want to rant and rave, let them go. They are too bloodlustful to see reason, but you have done your part. They may end up thinking later by the seed you planted.
