One of the first teams of heavily armed police to respond to Monday's shooting in Washington DC was ordered to stand down by superiors, the BBC can reveal.

A tactical response team of the Capitol Police, a force that guards the US Capitol complex, was told to leave the scene by a supervisor instead of aiding municipal officers

Wait wait wait.

Swat team lovers always bring up mass shootings like Sandy Hook and others as the entire reason for their existence....

They are there to help out for this exact reason. And this says they were asked to stand down????

Columbine for what, 45 minutes after shooting stopped? How many people died because of their pussification? They'll kick down the pot dealer's door and point guns at his children because they are tough guys, if it's "too dangerous," it's, "too dangerous."

This proves not of a conspiracy. It is evidence to what I've long suspected or, rather, knew.

In my law enforcement training, the active shooter course was very different than the events here.

In that class you were taught in the case of an active shooter, you do not hesitate. You respond, and enter the building or area where the shooter is, with or without backup. You attempt to eliminate the threat, because every second is crucial. You can't wait for a supervisor, you can't wait for a staging area and command center. You can't wait for orders. You simply head in the direction of the shooting.

This was the result of studied prior shootings, and was determined to be the best route to possibly save lives.

I thought it was noble, and the correct thing to do. That would make a hero out of a cop.

I recommend the book Rise of the Warrior Cop. This is how SWAT teams operate nation-wide. They only go charging in if they are serving a warrant on a nonviolent drug offender. If there's a shooting spree they stay back out of harms way. Of course they always cite these shooting sprees as the reason they need military equipment, but they have no intention of using it against a shooter.

What Will Grigg said ...

FTA: http://www.lewrockwell.com/2013/09/william-norman-grigg/gassing-and-machine-gunning-a-107-year-old-man/

SWAT teams attract people with an appetite for kicking ass (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWvgo17dHik), preferably in situations involving minimal risk. Where real danger exists – as at Columbine, for example – SWAT operators will be judicious to the point of paralysis (http://mises.org/daily/218/SWAT-in-Littleton), dithering and equivocating until the shooter has sated his depraved appetite and taken his own life. Charging a bedroom occupied by a mentally unbalanced 107-year-old armed with a small-caliber pistol is a task better suited to the skill set and valor of the typical SWAT team.
