LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It was a simple tweet from one of Louisville's most influential ministers, but it spoke volumes.

Saint Steven's pastor, Kevin Cosby, is speaking out about Rand Paul.

"What I appreciate about what Rand Paul said was at least he was trying to provide some answers and solutions," Cosby said.

At a community meeting in Louisville, Paul said he's for parental choice of education, job creation and the expungement of records for non-violent felons.

"I am in favor of people allowed to get their rights back," Paul said, "the right to vote, the second and fourth amendment back. All your rights to come back."

Reverend Cosby posted on his Twitter page, "No one in this country is creating a better message of uplift for the African American community than Rand Paul.

Dr. Cosby said he applauds the senator and it's not about the political affiliation, but rather what politicians stand for. He says Rand Paul stands for the important issues that need to change that affect the people here in West Louisville.

This is awesome! Rand is proving that if you come to people where they live, honestly listen to them, promise to fight for them on issues you agree on, and then follow through, you really can change people's minds. And once you've changed their minds, changing their votes might not be far behind :D

Can you imagine the Rev. Dr. Kevin Cosby giving a to-the-camera endorsement of Rand Paul in a 2016 presidential campaign ad, to be aired on network TV at primetime in all major urban areas (and on BET nationally)? That would really trigger some incontinence down at the DNC.
