View Full Version : Thoughts on the JOBS Act (passed in Spring 2012)?

Generally it reduces the barriers to entry for direct equity investing in startups. I hadn't heard much about it until researching for a blog article that I wrote recently (you can find that here: http://oddsandmeans.blogspot.com/2013/09/incentive-and-investment-future-of.html)

I searched the forums for any threads on this but only found two which were directly related to it, if the search function is working as expected:

As you can see, there's not much in the way of forum opinion in either of those threads. So I figured I'd ask. Generally I'm wary of bills which garner "bipartisan support" and which have catchy acronyms which would make you feel bad for voting against it (after all, who could vote against JOBS?). But the bill seems to open up the market in the right direction, even if it's not perfect.

Amash and Rand Paul voted in favor; Ron didn't vote (presumably because it was during the presidential campaign).

Anyway, thought I'd open it up to people who might know a bit more about it than I do :o
