I posted this earlier but just remembered that they mention how the old cannabis laws in Colorado are un-enforceable because of widespread JURY NULLIFICATION. That is one of the reasons the government has gone with all the legislation that has come through. That may be why the Feds are not enforcing the federal laws there.

You will have to go to the final segment of the episode to watch the portion on cannabis in Colorado:

The first few segments of the episode is also pretty interesting, though many of the questions slanted with propaganda imo, they interview Assad, Obama and the former #2 in the CIA, Obama admits that he is only "almost certain" that Assad used chemical weapons. I made a thread about that here if you'd like to comment on those items:

Bump for change of title and theme... I just remembered the whole jury nullification bit, I hadn't watched it since last night.

The mainstream media just announced to the American public how to get rid of all of our tyrannical laws - jury nullification - and there's only 1 view?

thanks for posting. a bit disappointed Steve didn't experiment with any products - at least on camera. would be kind of cool to see an establishment reporter get baked for the first time in years and have him just come out and say, "i'm a fraud... oops did I just say that out loud?" followed by a giggling fest.

the only encouraging or informative bit in that segment (other than jury nullification prospects) were the prices listed. most estimates I've seen for here really don't imply such "low" prices

that segment is actually recycled from an October 2012 episode (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?393244-Video-60-Minutes-segment-on-Colorado-s-medical-marijuana-quot-green-rush-quot) but still good to watch if you haven't seen it already

The general sense that I get here in CO is that marijuana is no simply longer illegal, i.e. basically as legal as alcohol. You smell it all the time in parking lots, parks, etc. Nobody really cares about it anymore. Ridiculous numbers of people are growing it for their own consumption, giving it to friends and family, etc. I know lots of people that smoke it (I don't), and for the most part it's no longer taboo.

Ya, that's the sense I got from the 60 minutes piece which makes me a bit disappointed in California... We aren't actively using jury nullification here enough, obviously.. and obviously there are a lot of people who support it here so you would think we would have more jury nullifications, but you also have small contingents who are very much against it which may be another reason why the feds intervene here more often. Do they not exist so much in Colorado?

So, does the entire jury need to be on-board to nullify, or can a single person who will not bend force it?

A single person can hang a jury in a criminal trial.

Doug Stanhope has a good comedy bit about it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k4fYIUuAP8

If you can't watch youtube, he says to take jury duty and if it's a non-crime like drugs or prostitution, vote not guilty. The more obvious it is that he did it, the more funny it is. Then he tells a story about a guy facing drug smuggling charges who explains that he was just out in the jungles of South America when he got bit by a frog or something and next thing you know he woke up walking through customs with a half pound of cocaine up his ass. Doug says, "Same thing happened to me!! NOT GUILTY!"

Do they not exist so much in Colorado? I don't get the impression that the "anti" groups here in CO are as zealous. There are dispensaries everywhere, and it's basically just become an accepted part of the landscape. Even little mountain towns of 5000 people usually have at least one dispensary. They're impossible to miss.
