31 year old Brent Girouex was arrested on 60 counts of suspicion of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist. The former youth counselor told police he did it to “help with homosexual urges by praying while he had sexual contact with [them]." He claimed the acts would give his victims "sexual purity."

Making matters even worse, Girouex has four children of his own and now his estranged wife Erin is speaking out against him now.

Girouex admitted having sexual relations with at least four young men but as many as eight have now stepped forward claiming abuse. The man told cops one of his relationships lasted four years and there was "mutual" contact 25 to 50 times. The victim is an adult now, he told police the real number was between 50 and 100 times.

Several of the victims told investigators the encounters with the former Council Bluffs, Iowa youth pastor took place at Girouex's house. Girouex is said to have told detectives “when they would ejaculate, they would be getting rid of the evil thoughts in their mind.”

Last week a judge handed down a 17-year prison sentence but promptly suspended it to allow Girouex to get sex offender treatment and probation.
As long as Girouex doesn't violate the terms of his probation, he won't do any jail time.

The perfect sentence for this guy would've been to throw him in a jail cell for 24-48 hours with several large inmates so the inmates could help 'cure' his 'homosexual tendencies'.

Kind of weird to think that if instead of doing this he had looked at a picture or video of someone else doing what he did he would be facing at least a minimum sentence of 10 years (likely much more).

No, I'm not saying that looking at porn like that is "okay" , it's definitely not in a moral sense -- but still it's bizarre that there are draconian sentences for that yet those who actually commit direct physical abuse against children often just get a slap on the wrist.

That's bullshit too. Unless you want to codify sexual violence as a punishment for violating others, there's no reason for it to be an "unofficial" punishment. As well, the violator might enjoy that.

If the evidence is strong enough, I'm favorable to physical castration.

......

Being a homosexual is harmless, but religion brainwashes people into thinking they'll spend the rest of eternity in hell if they don't change their ways. Here we have a pastor that exploited those fears.

And what was Sandusky's excuse for doing what he did to all those boys? Don't blame religion/God. Religion was the mask this POS put on to get away with what he was doing, as is always the case when there are atrocities in the name of religion/God. As has already been proven in one of your own threads, more atrocities have been perpetrated under atheist regimes than religious ones.

Touching, sexual relationship etcc etc, what I would like to know is if there was any penetration with any of the young boys cos if it was just touching, I live with no jail time seeing as he could be genuinely a crazy person that needs mental help

A state of being doesn't cause harm. Being homosexual is neutral, but homosexual acts(particularly in the male community) do seem to have more risk associated with them, if only for the general promiscuity of the culture.

Actually most homosexuals do not practice anal sex, only oral sex, so I don't know if it is any more dangerous.

I believe there was a lot of risky behavior and promiscuity in the days back in San Francisco before the HIV scare because most places in the country were not very open to homosexuality and so they all concentrated in an area where there was greater acceptance and more gay people. So it's sort of like how college kids have a lot of promiscuous sex incidentally in part because you have a huge group of them all together.

Being a homosexual is not harmless. That's your religion talking.

I've literally had someone try to argue with me on another forum that homosexuality should be illegal for the exact same reasons that rape should be illegal, "Because God said so."

There's a distinction to be made between harm and aggression.

I know you already know this, but some of the non-Christian/anti-Christian people who have only ever heard religion through the lens of statism may need to have that pointed out to them.

His point, and he was correct, had to do with the fact that homosexuality is evil, not anything to do with physical harm.

Spot on. Sandusky's "disguise" was a coach, this guy's was a pastor. For others it's a teacher, scout master, friendly neighbor, family member, etc.

My point was, while I'm completely aware that when Sola_Fide says "Homosexuality is not harmless" he's not suggesting laws against it, I am aware that there may be some that will fail to make the distinction, even here.

The judicial system is way too lax on these sorts of crimes. I don't believe pedophiles or rapists should ever be let out of prison. There is no treatment or cure for being a disgusting creep.

And I believe it is possible to cure same-sex attractions, but obviously this guy just wanted to indulge in his own perversion.

Freedom is "reckless"...

Parents assuring that some perv is punished for molesting their child, not so much..

Relying on the "Just-Us" system to actually decree justice is more than "reckless", in fact it borders on delusional.

Make no mistake, I'm all for you having the freedom to choose how some perv who molests your child is treated but don't get in my way if it's my child and I don't agree with the punishment you advocate...
