In your opinion could a liberty minded (Ron Paul) candidate run for the office of county assessor?

I think so, if the person used the office to highlight the abuses of the land registration and taxation system and push for meaningful changes. It's a tough call, but doable IMHO.

You can certainly do some good. Probably won't hold the job long, and you'll likely find yourself at the end of made up legal problems.

That is why I'd imagine that position is more protected than people may initially think.
