The 2014 Republican Senate nominee is still undecided, especially since Virginia Foxx – last month’s GOP favorite – is out of the running. Phil Berger leads the way among Republican primary voters with 13%, followed by 12% choosing Thom Tillis, and 11% picking Jim Cain. Yet 43% said they weren’t sure or wanted someone else for the nominee. Tillis had the highest favorability rating of the potential candidates with 18%, but 56% of respondents weren’t sure about him.

“With Virginia Foxx out of the mix the Republican Senate field is even more up in the air than it was a month ago,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “Most GOP voters want an option other than Thom Tillis but there’s little agreement about whothey want that alternative candidate to be.”
