What is going on in NC?

North Carolina state Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger (R) is running an ad touting his work on the state's controversial voter identification law that attacks Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), his latest move to keep his name in the mix as a possible Senate candidate.
...
Berger has been the driving force behind much of the most conservative legislation that has come out of North Carolina's statehouse, along with the man he'd be facing in a primary if he does run for Senate, North Carolina state House Speaker Thom Tillis (R). Tillis is the only major candidate who's announced against Hagan at this point, though the field is expected to grow. Charlotte-area pastor Mark Harris (R) is also expected to jump into the race in the next few weeks.

Any guerrilla campaigning going on in response? If that keeps up I'd imagine that volunteer teams of canvassers would be needed to take on every county in the state. Dare I say maybe even some high profile sign waves of some sort.

I don't understand why Rand can go campaign for Lonegan but hasn't found time for Brannon yet.

Brannon is definitely getting the black out treatment by local media in NC. Thing is, local media is now all lefty talking points so a real conservative won't get any attention.

Having said that, Brannon's events page is pretty much empty. The guy can't sit around and wait for it to come to him. I get occasional fundraising emails from him but that's it. He has to get himself out there and do old fashioned retail politics if he's going to have a shot in the primary. He has a grand total of two events even listed on his calendar for Sept and nothing in the coming months.

1 is a nominee for US Senate. 1 of in 5th place in a crowded field. Also, I think Rand might enjoy it, since it is in NJ ;)

Dr. Brannon has to start playing NC politics. Going to BBQ restaurants, fairs, parades, etc. I really don't know why he hasn't started that. He is an incredibly smart guy, but he doesn't have that "down to earth" politician feel to him (I guess because he's not a politician).

As for Rand campaigning, I think Dr. Brannon is going to bring out the big guns later.

If Brannon is serious about this campaign and gaining name recognition, he wouldn't have to rely on the big guns at all, really. But agreed, showing up at casual events in addition to GOP events is a good way to gain some name recognition with the base. But I don't know what goes on in North Carolina, though. Also, with this being such a contested race, like South Carolina, whose to say Paul will even get involved?

The House-Party idea is pretty grass-roots, but he probably isn't getting a lot of bang for the buck out of that voter-wise. He does need to hit bigger venues. Anybody in NC have any suggestions for big events?

It'd be nice if he could do some town hall type meetings at the state fair in October, as well as making the rounds to the other large NC fairs.

He has been doing house party type events.

From what I've been seeing he has been all over the place. Look at his Facebook from Saturday, he was at 3 events. Then looks like one on Monday and another last night.

I see that they have populated his event schedule over to his official website calendar. Much better. September has filled up quickly.

In a way, Paul, Inc. is already involved. His direct mail fundraising operation is being run by Sabre Communications, which is the firm used by Campaign for Liberty, Rand Paul 2010, and Ron Paul 2012 for all of their mailing operations.

Greg called last night asking for money. I gave him 200. He said he was doing a town hall in 30 minutes and had delivered a baby 2 hours earlier and had a full day at the clinic. it certainly makes me feel like I'm not doing enough.

I hope he calls the rest of you and you send him some money.

Replace an Obama Democrat with another Rand Paul or Mike Lee...

"North Carolina is lining up to be Ground Zero for this election. It's the majority."

Those were the words by a Republican strategist, and I could not agree more with the stakes of this election.

The September 30 fundraising deadline is just days away -- and I need your immediate contribution.

The entire political world will picking through my report with a fine tooth comb, and with at least one establishment Republican in this race, I need to report the strongest fundraising total possible.

There is no path to repeal ObamaCare, reject Barack Obama's gun control or stop amnesty without a conservative candidate defeating Kay Hagan.

And it is clear that only a conservative candidate can defeat Kay Hagan.

Our party cannot afford any more deal making moderates who want to get along with Democrats instead of FIGHTING Barack Obama’s socialist agenda.

The September 30 reporting deadline is rapidly approaching, and I need your help today.

If conservatives are going to elect more Rand Paul’s and Mike Lee’s to the Senate, the first domino to fall will be right here in North Carolina.

You see, of all the contested Senate primaries, ours falls first on the calendar.

Everyone in politics from the Raleigh establishment to the outside groups will be focusing their attention on my financial report.

And I’m afraid of the consequences if my report doesn’t project strength.

I’ve received word from political insiders that at least one more candidate is conducting polling on this race.

They also think the outside conservative groups could decide North Carolina just isn’t worth their time or money.

That’s why I hope I can count on you to help boost my campaign finance deadline report top a number that will turn heads.

I know a Senator from North Carolina who fights for your conservative values is worth your time and money.

That’s why I’m in this race.

I saw what happened last November.

Chameleon candidates who could morph into conservatives or moderates depending on what audience they were in front of crashed and burned.

If conservatives are going to toss Kay Hagan from office, they are going to need a candidate with rock solid support from conservatives.

You see, Kay Hagan isn’t just going to hand her seat over.

The unions.

The abortion lobby.

New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s radical anti-gun group.

Every single deep-pocketed liberal interest group in America will pour money into this race to protect Kay Hagan.

Millions of dollars in attack ads will be dumped on the head of the Republican candidate.

And as you and I saw last November, if the Republicans nominate an establishment moderate with no conservative convictions, the attack ads sank campaigns.

I pledge to you I will be that conservative champion in the mold of Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Ted Cruz.

And North Carolina can join the ranks of states who upended the coronation of establishment candidates.

But I need your help right away!

The September 30 reporting deadline is creeping up.

And unless conservatives rally to my campaign, the nightmare scenario of Kay Hagan providing the deciding votes on pro-abortion judges or new gun control schemes will turn into reality.

And make no mistake, if Democrats hold on to their Senate majority, Barack Obama will feel empowered to ram an even more radical agenda through Congress during his remaining days in office.

I’m sick just writing it out.

Barack Obama’s dreams of transforming America don’t have to come true.

You can block his agenda.

But his agenda will screech to a halt with your immediate help.

That’s why I hope I can count on you to make your most generous personal contribution of $60, $45, $30, $15 -- or whatever you can afford -- immediately!

Political experts say every dollar raised now is worth ten dollars down the road!

If you want more lawyers and career politicians, you’ve got plenty of choices -- including my Primary opponent.

But if you want real reform, someone who will stand up for freedom against the overreaching federal government, then I need your help like never before.

Please rush me your most generous personal contribution of $60, $45, $30, or $15 right away.

Kay Hagan is the Senator for Barack Obama.

If we are going to beat her in the fall and elect a Senator for North Carolina, conservatives across the state need to band together.

I hope I have earned your support.

Sincerely,
Greg Brannon
