 Just for the record, I think this is absolutely ridiculous, but it was too weird not to share.

The video is a bit long, yet amusing. If you don't care to watch it, this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_acceptance_movement) pretty much sums up the fat liberation/fat acceptance movement.

How much food does it take to maintain that corpulence?

Chances are tax-dollars are feeding the cow now, let alone paying for the bypass later..

I'm really looking forward to food prices rising high enough in the US that it consumes 50% of Americans incomes. Nothing like a good ole forced diet. The Fed will cure obesity within 5yrs all by themselves.

Excellent point. Somehow I think more government is the answer.

Kind of reminds me of Sarah goldfarb from requiem for a dream. She started on diet pills, and they treated the side effects of the pills with other drugs which caused more side effects, which began a death spiral of just giving her more and more and more drugs.

All the docs had to do was get her off the damn pills!

I don't have anything against fat people per se except that I don't understand why they wouldn't be trying to lose weight. Why be proud of being fat? It's not healthy and it generally decreases attractiveness.

So you like food? You LOVE food? Me too. I watch food network almost every day and cook multiple times every day. I also have almost no body fat and I am not nearly as active as I would like to be. But I USED to be VERY fat, so I've learned the whole 'genetics' thing is total BS. I can effortlessly manage my weight and so can anybody else who puts their mind to it and significantly reduces their carbs.

It's hard to blame them for being fat when they are told by the establishment to eat cheerios and bread and carbs to lose weight, but sometimes I want to walk up to fat people and just tell them the truth about carbohydrates and how easy it is to lose weight.

Not all that much if it's mostly sugar and starchy foods.

I also have nothing against them and I refuse to be rude towards them. I know several overweight or obese people that simply accept it and get really upset when their doctor tells them they need to lose some weight. Several of them buy into the genetics crap, yet they never consider the fact that their choices are the sources of their weight woes. You cannot eat nearly twice your daily calorie allotment, live a sedentary life, then expect to be a healthy weight. You just can't.

Ive got a fair amout of extra padding. It's definetely stubborn but if I really wanted to I could lose it. I just dont understand people who get so sensitive about it and dont do anything to fix it. I think fat jokes are funny and I make them at my own expense on a regular basis.

I could stand to lose about 20 pounds.... or turn it into muscle and keep the same weight.

Up until I quit smoking about 2 years ago, weight was never an issue.

I don't have anything against fat people per se except that I don't understand why they wouldn't be trying to lose weight.

Because they don't know that their consumption of polyunsaturated fats is the main reason their metabolism is slow. There were experiments with people with very slow metabolism and they didn't lose weight even with just 700 calories per day.

Up until I quit smoking about 2 years ago, weight was never an issue.

In his book about hypothyroidism, Broda Barnes mentions that all his patients who had addictions were also hypothyroid, and that they lost their addictions after he treated them for hypothyroidism. When you have low thyroid function, smoking helps you compensate for some of the symptoms that comes with having low biological energy. The problem is that the current methods and tests for diagnosing hypothyroidism are flawed and the ranges are wrong. But if doctors did it the old way, the Broda Barnes way, they wouldn't label so many hypothyroid people as healthy.

In the past people ate animals' thyroid glands, so these problems were corrected naturally. I think today it's illegal to sell meat with the thyroid. My guess is that if that practice still existed today you would have had no desire to smoke and no extra pounds.
