The top elected Republican in Washington, Boehner said following a meeting at the White House that he intended to support Obama’s plan for limited strikes against the regime of Bashar Assad in Syria.
"I am going to support the president's call for action,” he told reporters. "I believe my colleagues should support this call for action."

Following the meeting, Boehner's deputy, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., backed the use of force, as well.
“The use of these weapons has to be responded to,” Boehner said. "And only the United States has the capability and capacity to stop Assad and to warn others around the world that this type of behavior is not going to be tolerated."

I wonder if they'll whip the vote on this.

Doesn't matter. They have enough establishment drones in the palms of their hands to help Obama pass this.

When both GOP and Dem leadership support something, it will pass.

We came very close to winning the NSA vote even though the leadership of both parties were against the amendment, so it's possible for the house to vote against the AUMF even with the house leaders on both sides in favor of it.

Let's see US with collaboration of their usual 'partner's in crime' plan and execute the overthrowing of a nation with violence and terrorism. Syrian government fights back against the foreign invaders and their foreign weapons, and the New World Order Boehner/Cantor don't like it? HAH!

Seeing the US Fascist-Corporate Media spewing the same timely propaganda today of: "U.S. National Security at Stake"

You know why? If this US initiated coup fails, the cat will be out of the bag, captures and evidence will talk of the illegal terror-death operations of the U.S. government, et al, against Syria. Then the American people will realize what an evil regime is running Washington DC.

I'm hoping for some heavy duty filibustering to happen...

When over 90% of the people want us to stay out of it - anyone who votes for this action MUST GO AT ALL COSTS!

When over 90% of the people want us to stay out of it - anyone who votes for this action MUST GO AT ALL COSTS!Aren't the representaives in CONgress, suppose to vote accordingly to what their constituents demand?

So, it's true, that America no longer has a representative government! They don't represent the people... the dead give away are; campaign donations from special interest and the slick statements by these bought and paid for prostitutes... "Best interest of the US government" is NOT the same as the best interest of American taxpayers, best interest for Americans, or the best interest of America in general.

actually no. they are supposed to vote based on the Constitution, and what they think is right. Ron certainly voted against what his constituents wanted many times.

Ron certainly voted against what his constituents wanted many times.Well they need to change the "representatives" meme then... You uphold the US Constitution and the unalienable privileges granted, but if the people are not being represented, then there's no need to pay any Federal Taxes/Charges/Fees then.

Boehner becoming Speaker was one of the worst things to happen to Republicans in recent history. What a cancer this guy is.

Cantor usually goes along with him so there wouldn't be much difference there, but at least it seems like Cantor doesn't like him, which gets points with me on some base level.

So, we're fucked

Cantor is the highest ranking Neocon in the House, and Boehner always sides with Obama on any big vote. There was no way in hell we were going to get either of their votes, and this doesn't change the dynamic in the slightest. We can still win.

John Boehner Turns Down Russian Diplomats' Request For A Meeting To Discuss Syria
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/05/john-boehner-russian-meeting_n_3870597.html

House Speaker John Boehner (R- Ohio) has denied a request from Russian diplomats to meet with them to discuss influencing Congress to undercut President Barack Obama's plans for a military strike on Syria, CNN reported on Wednesday.

Boehner was not the only congressional leader approached by Russian diplomats. A Russian embassy spokesman told CNN that they have reached out to Republican and Democratic members of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. Those who accept would meet with members of the Russian parliament sometime next week. It is unclear if anyone has agreed to a meeting.
[...]
Dick Lugar, the former head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, noted that a meeting with Russian delegates could prove fruitful, in spite of "sour" relations between members of Congress and the Russian parliament.

“I don’t think a delegation from Russia will make any difference in terms of congressional votes,” he said. “But at the same time there may be the possibility that dialogue could lead to other positive things.”
