Yes. Guys like O'Reilly and Hannity know what our active duty personnel should be doing and thinking, even if they are too "dumb" to realize it at the time. Especially when they are deployed overseas and unable to find out the truth from our MSM, it's easy to see how they could be confused about what is really going on over there....since they are all the way over there and everything. His rank is Chief Petty Officer, same grade as a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Even though 'officer' is in the name, it is still an enlisted rank, not an officer. Impressive stack though.

He hasn't hidden nearly enough. I've worked on image processing. If Theye want him, they will ID him from the image above. They know he is a chief gunner's mate and they have an ear and a hand from which to work. They know he wears glasses. That is a LOT of information. A recent confidential survey taken in the Army has the vote of no confidence in Army leadership at between 50% and 60% depending on the wording of the questions.

It probably has something to do w/ this (http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/the-abusive-army/):

2) During the build up/surge, recruitment needs were such that standards dropped to serious lows. Waivers were granted willy-nilly. As a result, the service ended up with a lot of shiftless thugs who have now served long enough to be in leadership positions (or at least positions where they can be obstructionist and demoralizing).

Neo-Trots left and right have weakened our military with their insane endless wars.

Neo-Trots left and right have weakened our military with their insane endless wars.

Were it so - the standards start to drop in 2005, and that means the less than desirable have 8 years in or less, making most of them recent E-6 or below. Every year, some 50,000 to 60,000 leave active duty, so there is plenty of existing opportunity to churn the lower ranks. The issue with cuts, such as the 2014 year, is that Army strength gets reduced by about 20% in one year. Going from 43 combat brigades to 35 combat brigades, means fewer colonels and so on down the line. It means tossing out career E-5s, E-6s, and some E-7s before they would qualify for a pension.

The survey info I have does not show a breakdown by rank, but I suspect the loss of confidence is spreading up the chain. Even the Marines, which have a tradition, of once you make E-6, will make sure you can stay to retirement, have put out the message, that they can no longer maintain this policy. When the chain of command breaks down, the results are not just a loss of unit effectiveness, but more abuse of subordinates, and civilians whenever the opportunity to do so presents itself.

GOP CONGRESSMAN: Military Members Keep Telling Me To Vote No On Syria

PAUL SZOLDRA
AUG. 31, 2013, 7:29 PM

After President Obama delivered a speech in the Rose Garden where he said the United States "should" strike Syria following a deadly chemical weapons attack, Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) took to Twitter to dispute that claim with comments from those who would likely carry out that order.

"I've been hearing a lot from members of our Armed Forces," Amash tweeted. "The message I consistently hear: Please vote no on military action against Syria."

Now that Obama has deferred to congressional debate, a vote on striking Syria would likely come up on the week of Sep. 9. The President probably has the support of the Senate, but the vote could have some trouble in the House, as Josh Barro points out.

Since Amash's initial tweet, he's been retweeting comments that have been sent in from military members and veterans. Many of my own military sources have expressed reservations with action in Syria, especially following service in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Tea Party Troops Protest Syria Strike On Facebook, Raise Questions About Military Code Of Conduct
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/04/armed-forces-tea-party-syria_n_3865480.html

Dissent is brewing at the Armed Forces Tea Party Facebook page.

In series of anonymous posts, a number of uniformed service members have taken a stance against a potential engagement in Syria against President Bashar al-Assad, using political arguments that have sparked a debate about the behavior's legality.

This montage, shared more than 1,000 times, describes concerns about the role that al Qaeda and other extremists play in the rebel forces.
[...]
"I didn't sign up to kill the poor for the rich," reads another posting on the Armed Forces Tea Party page, which isn't officially affiliated with the military.

While those opposed to the intervention have claimed that displacing Assad could create a power vacuum to be filled by anti-American extremists, some have argued that active members of the military are violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice by publicly airing such grievances.

Politix points out that a "Failure to obey order or regulation" or "Contempt toward officials" are both punishable by court-martial.

One service member posted a photo suggesting he believes the dissenting displays are inappropriate:

http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1333673/original.jpg

In a column at the Daily Banter, journalist Chez Pazienza accused the Armed Forces Tea Party of mounting a partisan political campaign as much about opposing President Barack Obama as is about military engagement in Syria:

But the fact that you hate Barack Obama is meaningless; he’s your boss. When he tells you to jump, you say “how high?” Why? Because if you don’t the entire machine that is the all-volunteer United States military -- rightly and often referred to as the greatest fighting force that’s ever existed upon this earth -- breaks down, and that endangers all of us, regardless of whichever political belief we each happen to adhere to.

Pazienza goes on to write that he's never served in the military.

Further complicating matters, Politix reported Wednesday that the pro-Assad Syrian Electronic Army had posted a number of the service members' pictures during hack of the official U.S. Marine Corps website.

"Marines, please take a look at what your comrades think about Obama's alliance with Al Qaeda in Syria," the SEA's message on the Marine site read, before being taken down.

Politics, Facebook and the military have intersected controversially in the past. Marine Sgt. Gary Stein launched the Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots back in 2012, urging service members to exercise their free speech. Stein's group caught the attention of his superiors after he made a number of posts criticizing Obama, and he ultimately received an other-than-honorable discharge.

The mantra he must tell himself, probably. To absolve himself of the sins he committed. "Just following orders"- as if that makes a bit of difference. In his mind, it probably does.

What about the Nuremberg trials and simply saying "I was just obeying orders" is not a justification for committing atrocities?
