Growing up on Staten Island, Staff Sgt. Michael Ollis dreamed of being like his father and grandfather and serving in the U.S. Army.

Ollis was an ROTC student at the Michael J. Petrides School, enlisting shortly after graduating in 2006. He fought a combat tour in Iraq and was in his second in Afghanistan when he was killed Wednesday in an insurgent attack in Ghazni Province.
