A popular North Korean singer — and Kim Jong Un’s former flame — was among a dozen performers executed by a firing squad last week, reports said Wednesday.

Hyon Song-wol, a well-known pop artist and longtime girlfriend of the dictator, was gunned down with the group of songsters on Aug. 20 — three days after they were arrested for allegedly breaking pornography laws, South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo reported.

The victims, members of well-known bands in the country, were accused of videotaping themselves having sex and selling the tapes, the paper reported.

One source told the newspaper that some of the victims were clutching Bibles as they were killed in front of their loved ones — who were then ordered to live in the country’s notorious prison camps after they were found guilty by association.

I don't believe anything that is reported out of n. Korea as long as the state dept. has them on the boogeyman list. who is going to challenge the report or even attempt to expose the truth?
nobody.

Nahh.. They're safe as long as nobody strikes oil or finds mass political influence in the middle east.

My favorite part of that pic is that girl giving the death stare to the back of Dennis Rodman's head. For some reason her face is more out of focus in that image than in the other versions of the image, so you can't see how intently she's staring him down.

It is strange - there are some stoic faces in the crowd. One "round eye" in the back too. What's also strange is that the only person looking at the camera is Kim...

I wonder if Kim would have Rodman put in front of a firing squad for violations of various Korean law? I wonder if Rodman still considers Kim "cool".

Dictatorships... amazing.

My favorite part of the photo is Rodman's friend (I'm assuming anyway) who has the look of "Lord, just let me get out of here alive. I promise I'll never..."

And the guy next to him, "Hey buddy, you having a good time?"

wow you've been there? or have friends there? because if you don't, most of what you know about NK has been filtered through the MSM and labeled "enemy" by our state dept. your fear is manufactured.

North Korea is the worst country on the planet. If the "Humanitarian Interventionists" were motivated by humanitarianism rather than bloodlust they'd be going there first.

Mind you, I don't support that, but I'm just saying, if they were to be consistent.

Well with the precedents we've set I wouldn't be surprised if other countries don't piss on the concept of sovereign air space as well.

That won't be for a while, obviously. Spending some 600B annually has bought us military superiority for as far as I can see. When the dollar collapses and the troops are stretched so thin that they become discouraged and lose morale, who knows.

All in the name of national defense. God forbid their palaces not have Italian marble.

Isn't there some irony, that the USA seems to be absolutely the most scared nation in the world terrified of Weapons of Mass Destruction, when the truth is, the US is the only one to actually use them killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

Not simply the atomic bombs in Japan, either.

Depleted uranium users and profiteers contaminating countries for a literal eternity. Kind of amazing that they have the audacity to speak on what Iran may or may not do with their uranium. They aren't packaging nuclear waste up in shells and launching them on political whims.

That and we sold Saddam Hussein Anthrax, Sarin and other chemical and biological weapons knowing full well he had every intention of using them against the Kurds. That they can ever question one's morality or attempt to act as if they are morally superior is a slap in the face to all the gassed in Halabja. Not to mention the troops down wind from Khamisiyah who were exposed to chemicals and biologicals that they don't even know. All in the name of destroying evidence.

War is a racket. North Korea may be a despotic hell hole but the puppeteers behind our foreign policy have been systematically and knowingly poisoning the earth for a long time. We prop up Saudi Arabia and other brutal dictatorships, organize and fund coups for those who don't bow down to our commands, and criticize North Korea simultaneously. It's a tragedy what happens there, as is a tragedy what happens in Saudi Arabia, but these so called humanitarians would be wise to study our foreign policy of the last century before attempting to justify our actions as noble. Far from it.

It appears there is a plan. Otherwise these people are so far removed from reality that they give not one fuck of the annihilation they are fanning.

Well said. + REP.

Saddam was in our pocket until he said he wanted to use EUROS instead of USD for oil. Don't fuck with the Petrodollar!! The CW became a good justification for war. To think that lead to the Wars in Iraq which has killed 100K+ people and and injured another 100K+ more (stats are probably way understated).

And yet our leaders cry about people doing bad things, so they need to go and start bombing again. :(
