Only 9 percent of respondents said that the Obama administration should intervene militarily in Syria; a RealClearPolitics poll average finds ...

In 2002, 70%+ Americans had supported military intervention in Iraq to get rid of its chemicals/WMDs. Much has changed since, it's a non-starter now.

Rafael Edward "Ted" Cruz made a bad bet by calling for US military intervention in Syria, Obama most likely would avoid this blunder. But not too surprising since Cruz says Obama's Foreign Polici is "too dovish" even though he has few things common with Obama:

Ted Cruz's Quick Syria invasion stance:

“We know Assad has used these weapons, and there is good reason to suspect the al Qaida-affiliated rebels would use them as well if they could get their hands on them. This poses an intolerable threat not only to our friends in the region, but also to the United States. We need to be developing a clear, practical plan to go in, locate the weapons, secure or destroy them, and then get out. The United States should be firmly in the lead to make sure the job is done right.”- Ted Cruz

Interesting that Leftwing Neocons like Alan Dershowitz, James Carville and Rightwing Neocons like Beck, Hagee praise him:

May 10, 2013
According to a May 9, 2013 story in the Daily Caller, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas came in for some praise from another unusual source. Alan Dershowitz, one of Cruz’s professors at Harvard Law, called the senator from Texas, “One of Harvard Law’s smartest students.”
Dershowitz dismisses suggestions that Cruz cannot run for president because he was born in Canada. Cruz’s mother was an American citizen, making him a natural born American under the dictates of the Constitution.

Dershowitz is known for his liberal leanings, albeit as an articulate advocate and an author of a number of best-selling books. Along with James Carville, Bill Clinton’s former consigliere, Dershowitz is the second prominent liberal to praise Cruz’s intellect and drive.

John McCain had rejected Hagee's endorsement in 2008 after vids were leaked showing Hagee calling Hitler "God's hunter" and comparing Catholic religion to "The Beast". Recently, controversial senator Ted Cruz was a featured speaker at CUFI Zionists rally and called John Hagee a "great guy".

I assumed many who knew Rafael Cruz in this informed audience were aware of his foreign policy stances but it appears many were not:
