I support Ron Paul. I happen to be a disabled veteran that came home from Iraq and worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs. I have many veteran friends that would like to know what Ron Paul is going to do for them. I am not looking for a handout, but I do recieve a check every month from the VA that supplements my income. I would trade that check for a healthy body any day of the week but the fact is I was injured in a "war" and that check does help me every month just as it helps other veterans.

What should I tell other veterans about Ron Paul? I know Ron Paul would never leave a disabled veteran out on the street, but some of them are very dependant on that check because they are unable to work due to the injuries they incurred serving their country.

Can anyone supply me with links to Ron Paul's position on this? I come into contact with veterans all the time and I would like to know what to say when I start talking about Ron Paul and they ask me about veteran issues.

Thanks!

Also, if you are an OIF/OEF veteran be sure and check out the Vet Centers:
http://www.vetcenter.va.gov/

They provide free couseling services that are completely confidential. Also, they are plugged into the community and can really help you get all the info on veteran services available in your area.

This is obviously not a comprehensive answer, but it should give you a sense of Dr. Paul's dedication to our veterans:

Thats a question I'm far from qualified from answering but from what I have read so far that is Dr. Ron Paul # 1 thing is he supports to take care of our veterans.

Ron Paul is probably the BEST candidate if your a veteran. He has always voted for increased veterans benefits and speaks a ton about them and how they deserve more.

I am surprised you do not know this. I would think that is what attracted you.

Read about Ron Paul's writings for Veterans:

Check out his Veterans SlimJim:

Yes, I think one of the few things that Ron Paul believes is the job of Federal government is to take care of our vets!!

That was quick! Thanks, I will check all the links you provided!

(and ctb619, if you need any VA or veteran info, please PM me. Don't forget you have 2 years of free medical care from the VA as an OIF veteran.)

I have heard him say we need to do more for our veterans and I believe he will, but I want the facts to tell other veterans and I am sure when I visit all the links that have been provided I will be able to let other veterans know what RP will do for them.

I know RP does not agree with the "war" (and I don't either) but I have no doubt he has respect for the men and women who raise their right hand to defend the constitution.

Here's a nice Veterans' slim jim from the official site: http://www.ronpaul2008.com/files/VeteranSlimJim.pdf

HQ should probably add this information to the issues page.

Urrr... I have Vista and I could not download the pdf file....

I'll just go to the site and check them out. I know for a fact that many veterans do not agree with this so called "war" and they just need to hear the message and know that they didn't raise their right hand for nothing.

I have Vista too. You probably don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html). Either that or you have a firewall, or something.

Thanks for that. It was all good until the second part of the last quote:

“Veterans deserve dignified care, and we can’t provide that with a VA that is runlike the Postal Service or the IRS.”

As a former VA employee I can say that without a doubt that for the most part the men and women comming home early from the war were served better in the VA than outside the VA. The VA is not run like the postal service or the IRS. The sad part is the government did not increase the funding for the VA even though a flood of veterans was due to come, so for those that came home after the first year got sub-standard care. Waiting lists grew and something as simple as a dental checkup resulted in more than a 9 month wait. That being said, when I did get my dental checkup, the dentist was one of the best I have ever had.
