I'm withholding judgement. While I do think he would be better than "Liberal Lamar", his per-diem scandal and breaking the tax pledge he signed makes me non-committal about him for now.

Oh man I thought that was Lamar Smith the CISPA god when I first read it.

He is a guy that like Lamar Alexander, likes tax increases. He wants to ban the porn industry but says the pesky Supreme Court won't let that happen. He noticed that Texas was able to put a tax on the porn industry there. So he proposed an even bigger tax on the porn industry in TN. It failed. He also proposed another tax according to a former opponent. http://www.voteryanharring.com/the-fact-is-joe-carr-broke-pledge-not-to-support-tax-increases/

He did try to lower the tax on gold in TN, so that is something. Tea Party candidates are mixed bags. Still better than Alexander, especially to voters that are Christian fundamentalist that wants US law to be based on the Bible and not the Constitution.

The Senate Conservatives Fund doesn't even want to support him, that should say something.

Did anyone else think of "Tsarnaev" after hearing his name?

*sigh* What's with these Christian fundies? OK, our wait for a better candidate continues.
