I heard via word of mouth at work that there was no shooting.. the kid just brought the gun to school. Any truth to that or reports all saying shooting occurred?

And he surrendered voluntarily.

According to WSB-TV's website, a woman in the school office called to say a gunman asked her to contact the Atlanta station and police.

Earlier today, an alleged gunman entered McNair Learning Academy in DeKalb County and told the school employee to call WSB-TV. The man, who was dressed in black and had an AK-47, surrendered peacefully after being confronted by police officers. No injuries have been reported. DeKalb County Acting School Superintendent Michael Thurmond told 11Alive News that the suspect had fired at least one shot, and that gunfire was returned by officers.

DeKalb County Assistant Police Chief Holmes says that the suspect was not injured before he was taken into custody. Holmes says police are taking the suspect to police headquarters for interrogation.
