including two jars of tannerite

Really, 2 jars of a nearly harmless low level pyrotechnic.
And black powder.. ( I was allowed to possess 5 pounds while on Parole) I never had more than 2lbs at any one time.

Some of the other stuff is questionable,, but really.

I wonder if any of the guns were Airsoft.??

Four assault rifles, a shotgun, a rifle, five handguns (two of the rifles and one of the handguns were equipped with silencers)

This is not enough.

Wisely the deputies called the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department to see if they could check out a property in Rio Linda where Koertel had been staying.

Because the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has the authority to issue search warrants?

Because the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has the authority to issue search warrants?

Property owner likely gave permission..
Which begs a question..
He worked for the owner (doing what?) and he let him stay there.

Your average homeless meth head does not acquire all that stuff.

More to the story???

Seriously only 20 mags?!

Then again they said they are high capacity. That must mean he has those 60 round surefires or something. Those are expensive. Now standard capacity mags are cheap and easy to stockpile.

His Weapons looked pretty sweet though. Tannerite is completely legal btw. It is a fairly benign explosive that people use for fun because it blows up when shot by a firearm. Yes, if your a moron it could be dangerous aka shooting tannerite point blank, but it really isn't a big deal.

numerous Cricket bombs.

http://colombinus.wordpress.com/2013/02/13/cricket-bombs/

Cricket bombs are improvised explosive devices, also known as cartridge bombs or CO2 bombs. They are made by taking empty CO2 canisters (like what might be used to power a BB gun), and filling it with gunpowder or flash powder and attaching a fuse. Over 90 of these and other small IEDs were made by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold for use in the Columbine massacre.

http://www.arlingtoncardinal.com/2011/05/cricket-bomb-found-in-evanston-near-alexander-park-grove-st-and-ridge-ave/

Cricket bombs are small, but there is a report of a metal fragment from a CO2 cartridge causing a through-and-through wound in the lower leg of a juvenile who detonated a ‘cricket bomb’ with a fuse that was too short.
http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2013/04/18/ofallon-illinois-h-s-student-charged-after-bomb-making-materials-found/

According to the indictment, police went to Stanton’s home and found one or more explosives devices including a “cricket” bomb which is made up of carbon dioxide cartridges, fuses and explosive powder. O’Fallon police were then sent to the high school to arrest Stanton.

Kid stuff.
or a Weapon of Minimal Destruction

I'm gonna guess california has a different definition for "high capacity" than you do. I also don't care how many magazines someone has or what they hold, but just saying that's a useless statement from them without a round count. Easy propaganda, whenever they can use that term.

Yup,, But an odd combination for a Foreign National,, living in a junk yard.

I wonder who's car he was driving, ??

Perhaps a Meth dealer,, and those items were payment for product.. the "several passports" is curious. Perhaps an "on call" asset laying low.

Any bets this story evaporates?

Definitely, if true, and of sufficient quality.
